Mousasi vs Shields, @185lbs

Who takes it?

Wow. You must think highly of Shields to think he can even match up against Mousasi.

Lets take a Top 10 Welterweight, who fights at 185 sometimes and match him up against a fighter who has fought at Heavyweight and Light Heavy in his last two fights.

Even if I imagine that they are the same weight when they fight, Mousasi would smash him. Lets see how Shields handles Miller before we go this far.

Are you kidding???

Let's start with your ranking argument. Shields is shown as #4 as a WW, according to MMA News' rankings, whereas Mousasi is nowhere to be found.

Shields has beaten some big names, IMO bigger names than Mousasi has beaten. To name a few; Robbie Lawler, Sakurai, Dave Menne, Okami, Condit, etc.

Who has Mousasi beaten that makes you believe it would be an easy victory for him? An aging Sobral? An aged Mark Hunt? Or perhaps Souza and Manhoef are the clinchers for you? Nowhere near the competition that Shields has beaten.

I think Shields will beat Miller quite convincingly. And I think he would take Mousasi as well.

I just think there's too big of a weight difference

What ranking argument? I said Jake Shields is Top 10 welterweight. Do you disagree?

I made the point that they are two weight classes apart.

Let's discuss skill................you said that "Even if I imagine that they are the same weight when they fight, Mousasi would smash him." Please elaborate.

Shields has zero stand up and Mousasi has good enough groundgame not to get subbed just like that. Of course miracles can happen but i see Mousasi winning 9/10 times.

Shields is a great fighter but Gegard is a REALLY great fighter and is just a phenom at 185. Too much upside for Shields to combat.

bad matchup, like Who is stronger gsp or penn, or spider vs gsp

Malice 11-03-2009 08:19 PM

Mousasi would kick Shields head into Seat 3 in the 25th row.
