It's not that I hate Tim Sylvia. He's fought through some difficult situations where his career could have ended (mainly being stripped of the Title after being busted for steroids). But, I think that his time is up.

He just isn't a finisher... being happy to rest on his reach and jabs... forcing almost every fight to go to a decision. This of course leads to really boring fights where his opponents are forced to try to chase him down.

Now, it could be argued that that is the champs prerogative, and Sylvia is simply employing the best strategy for his defense of the title.

Here's where I see a problem... because Sylvia is so damn tall... pretty much every fighter has to chase him and no one can out jab him. Taking nothing away from Monson, but, that was a brutal boring fight and it wasn't Monson's fault. He tried to strike, he tried to grapple but, in the end, Sylvia's reach could not be overcome.

Enter Mirko Crocop. He's a nasty brutal striker (hits as hard as Sylvia but, far more accurate and much quicker), and with Crocop's kicks, the reach should not be as much of an issue. I'd love to see one of those hellish Crocop side kicks land in Sylvia's flabby gut.

So, that's the match I'd love to see....

Sylvia has finished the majority of his fights.He recently goes to a few decisions and all of a sudden ,he can't finish a fight?

I think Crocop would work Sylvia over with leg kicks and body kicks ,before setting up the High Kick.Crocop would win ,b/c he's a better striker.He's a k-1 level striker.Tim would have a punchers chance though(watch crocop/Randleman and than say tim wouldn't have at least a punchers chance.) ,but not a very good chance.

I totally appreciate how Tim has knocked dudes out in the past but, that was really against mid level talent. The only real notable knockout in recent memory has been Arlovski and I think AA's chin was suspect up to that point anyway (and I feel AA rushed it in the 2nd fight). Against real top level guys... all Tim has is his reach and his jab.

Tim just seems so awkward and gangly while Mirko appears graceful and skilled.

I take nothing away from any of these guys... I'm just playing "armchair quarterback"

Crocop would chop him to pieces with leg kicks. Remember how Arlovski had Tim's leg hurting? Well, Crocop would do the same thing, but he wouldn't abandon it. Sylvia would get cut down in a bad way. It would be a ref stoppage due to Sylvia not being able to get up....
