I think in a grappling match Hughes would win on points I don't think Almeida could deal with his power or ability to nuetralize other peoples jitz... See Matt Serra.
I agree that we shouldn't disregard the strength that Hughes may still possess but you clearly contradicted yourself by providing an example of how strong he used to be. Seven years ago, Hughes was probably the #1 p4p fighter and was running through everyone. If you mentioned that it happened recently, then there would be a little bit more credibility of how strong he is currently.

both have atrocious striking, but fitch makes hughes striking look bad. thats saying a lot. Fitch is a better wrestler than hughes and would win standing and get a takedown or two for a decision win in a very boring fight.

dream match?

A lot of legends dominated in their time period and the new era over took them. However, I really think Hughes was so much better in his prime than where he is now. It would be very interesting to see a prime Hughes vs Fitch. But as of now I've gotta give it to Fitch.

You people aren't looking at this right. If two awesome BJJ guys go up against each other it's cool. Why wouldn't it be cool to see really good wrestlers fight? Or maybe their wrestling cancels each other out so they just stand and throw really poor punches at each other like Jung v Garcia? It would be cool.
