Aldo has to be one of the most impressive fighters in mma, and look at what frankie has done in the ufc. Very interesting matchup. There would be a lot more money on the table for aldo if he ever came to 155 and a lot better competition and exposure. He has a longer frame and imagine how much power he could get out of 12 pounds of solid muscle on his frame. I would love to see that happen, he is a great athlete and i think he would be able to do that would losing any speed. Especially adding it in his legs, back and shoulders will make him more explosive.

Aldos skillset is just way above Frankies. The only way Frankie beat BJ was cause he was faster, but Aldo is faster thanFrankie

ya i definitely agree, i just put it up because frankie has so many people backing him for his fight with bj it was surprising. frankie is fast but aldo is one of the fastest in the game and he can kick and knee to a ko as well.

i have been saying for a while that id love to see this fight and would love to see it more then i would want see aldo/penn. i just never said it on here because i didnt wanna get my head chewed off haha.

i really dont know how this would play out. it would be similar to the faber fight probably. i dont see any other strategy aldo would use because edgar has never been knocked out never submitted and his only loss he was out muscled which aldo wont do.

i think if aldo can take out his legs and slow him down he takes it convincingly but if he cant for some reason i think frankie can hit those little jabs to set up shots and then it would get interesting.

Jose Aldo is only in his early 20s. Let him dominate the 145ers for a bit longer and move up when his body naturally starts to carry the weight.

Edgar owns Aldo at this point in his career.

Aldo is tearing the FW division apart in impressive fashion but the FW division is eons behind the LW division at this point. Remember Brown the former king of the FWs was once a mediocre LW. He cut down to FW because he could not compete with the LWs. He went from being maybe a Top 20 LW to being the best FW in about a year or so.

I am using Brown as an example to show the talent difference between LWs and FWs. I think Aldo could compete well at the LW division but he would probably be on the outside of the Top 10 or just barely Top 10.

As for the fight, I think Edgar would be able to take Aldo down when he wanted and pull out a stoppage or decision. If Edgar can take down Sherk and Penn, he can take down Aldo whenever he wants. Also the argument could be made that Frankie is the best striker Aldo has ever faced. Meanwhile Frankie has fought and beaten better strikers then Aldo (Penn). Maybe in another few years Aldo could beat Frankie, but not at this point.

you have been one of the biggest edgar supporters on the site, yet you have always declined my sig bet offer for the fight vs bj. you wont be able to say that after Saturday.

I do agree as far as aldo is still raw talent and can get a lot better. Frankie has faced much better competition and the ufc lw division has way more talent then the wec fw. but using brown as an example does show that about comparing the division, but it does not shed light on aldo, he is clearly head and shoulders ahead of everyone, how good at lw would he be, who knows, but he destroyed brown just as easily as he did he lesser opponents and i had a feeling that he wanted to show that he could go the distance against faber, who he completely destroyed. One thing we do know is that he has supreme speed and precision. he is very explosive and has ko power in his hands, knees, and kicks. He is also very good on the ground from what his close teammates say. ya frankie has much better wrestling and could get him down but aldo is not just a good striker, he is an elite talent that could end the fight at any second.

For those of you who feel Aldo would kill Edgar, did you believe BJ was going to kill him too?

This is a very intriguing matchup, very difficult to pick a winner. I'd probably give the edge to Frankie.

aldo is a beast but with sick stand up and bjj but i belive if edgar could outwrestle him he will beat him its kinda like edgar is jon fitch with a slightly less effective bjj game and aldo is alves
