Penn fairly easily I'd say. He's better in every aspect, he'd get a stoppage whether it be submission or TKO (more likely to be TKO).

sakurai has excellent pace and timing. he understands when to push the pace, when to just chill, and can explode
he weighs more, is probably stronger, hits harder, throws solid leg kicks, and has excellent grappling (2nd place in ADCC Absolute in 2002)
BJ better bring his A-game if he fights Mach, or he could very well lose
i like both these guys, but BJ should win unless he underestimates Mach

P4P Penn is the better fighter so if he loses to Mach it will be due to size advantage. BJ has superior subs and better striking so unless something happens during the fight (cardio, injury) Penn should win imo

Mach beat Aoki, who i would say has better offensive sub game than BJ, i doubt BJ could sub Mach at all

i think you guyz are overrating Penn way too much. he's an incredible fighter, but he can't just defeat Sakurai like it's an easy task.

I don't think Penn would walk through him, but I give BJ the w on this one.

I know this is an old thread, but I searched for Sakurai threads in here because of his rumored future signing with the UFC. This fight is actually quite possible if you really think about it if Sherk gets stripped of his title. That is, if Mach can make the cut to 155 which he should be able to. This would be a war, and I'm gonna say the unpopular thing and say Sakurai would probably take it, but it would be tough. It's like 51% - 49% in Sakurai's favor IMO.
