Default MMA at MSG

I want to preface this by saying that I'm a pretty recent convert to MMA fandom, so my picks by necessity have to be based on recent fighters, and will almost certainly miss important people (I've seen almost exclusively UFC). That being said, I think that a big part of a dream card is the venue, and to have an MMA event (in my head a UFC event) would be flat out awesome, and a great moment in MMA history. Of course, for such an awesome locale you'd need an amazing card, and this is the best I can come up with (all people are at their current ability, I don't know enough about how good people used to be)

Main Event
Randy Couture vs. Fedor Emelienko (sp?)
You need to have the best fighter in the world in the main event, and we all know what a hot crowd can do for Randy

Other matches (not in order)

Chuck Liddell vs. Shogun Rua
From what I've heard of Rua, he may have what it takes to give Liddell a great match

Anderson Silva vs. Dan Henderson
I don't think I need to explain this one

Gabe Gonzaga vs. Arlon Arlovski
I'd like to see how Gonzaga does against someone with a better ground game than CC, and Couture is already on the card

GSP vs. Josh Koscheck
I'm not saying it would be a great fght, but Kos annoys me and his...less exciting style would not serve him well against GSP

Hermes Franca vs. Carlos Huerta
Huerta impressed me, and Franca seems to be a very exciting fighter. I should probably put a pride LW here, but I don't know them very well

Michael Bisping vs. Matt Hamill
This is the TUF fan in me, I just always wondered how the fight would go

Matt Hughes vs. Rich Franklin
I don't think Hughes would lose too much at 185, and these were the dominant fighters (along with Liddell) when I started watching, and are still up there.

So there you have it, one newb's perspective

Hey welcome man
lol not a bad dream card i supose considering you admit you dont know too much about Pride etc,
Its definately a ppv selling machine but some of these fights are mainly for entertainment purposes, but theres nothing wrong with that.
Plus yeah Shogun definately has what it takes to give Chuck a great match lol.
Its also good to know that people that mainly watch UFC are aware that Fedor is the best.

Not a bad card, I just think that Matt Hughes would do that well against Franklin.

This is certainly a card I would watch, a lot of my favorite people on the list. Welcome to the forum BTW.. I don't quite see what this has to do with Madison Square Garden though.. unless you mean you would want it there..

And since you are a new fan, I will give you some information and I should let you know, MMA has not been approved by the NYSAC (New York State Athletic Commission), so we won't see any fights at MSG anytime soon. But, I would love to hit an MMA event in MSG, that would be cool

It is a very good card. I might throw in Tito v. Wandy and BJ penn v. Takanori Gomi. If you haven't seen the LW's in Pride, there's a lot of talent there. You should check it out.

GSP v. Kos and A. Silva v. Hendo would be great fights.
