What's Jeff Monson's Height? lists him as 5'7 ,but Sherdog has him at 6'0.

supposedly november, but probably not since they are going for the UFC vs Pride supercard. But maybe that will fall through and Monson and Sylvia will be on that card. If not, they should put it on the October card, cuz i don't think Franklin vs. Whoever is gunna sell a lot of buys. As good as Ace is, let's face it, Penn vs. St Pierre is what sold people on UFC 58.

Sorry i wasn't trying to be bitchy, I just find it annoying to read things which don't flow too well and I usually only come on late at night so my eyes are mashed by then lol.
    Thanks for breaking it down.
Agreed Sylvia doesn't get enough respect, however at the same time he is not at the level where he should be a heavyweight champion. Monson is very capable of beating him and like was said before he also should not be champion.

Now I'm not hugely into the heavyweight division and will admit some UFC bias in most regards however I feel that neither Sylvia or Monson would be regarded as a top contender in PRIDE at present, however every fighter constantly improves and Monson winning the belt or Sylvia retaining may see either become unstoppable.

He doesnt count Sylvia's loss to Mir because apparently Sylvia wasnt ready.
Sylvia proved in his last fight that he can go 5 rounds and apparently that should scare people.
If Monson takes Sylvia down, Sylvia will just stand back up.
The only people who could challenge Sylvia are fedor, crocop or nog.

thanx for breaking that down i read it and it was fucking all over the place i am bascially saying tim sylvia gets no respect for what he does

Way before. I think it was his first fight for Pride at a Bushido event.

how do you figure that? monson has been invited to adcc from 1999 to 2005, winning at lhw in '99 and hw in '05. vera went to adcc once and lost... though to his credit, he'd been doing bjj for 7 months and got submitted by that year's lhw champ, jon olav einemo, while monson lost a controversial match to that year's hw champ, marcio cruz. a decision monson protested by removing his shorts and throwing them into the crowd.

I think Vera would have the size advantage, but Monson would still beat him on the ground. Vera's a strong guy but I'd say Monson's stronger and has the benefit of competing ( and winning ) in ground-fighting specific tournaments. Stand-up wise, I think Vera would have an advantage but Monson's pretty damn quick and his striking isn't to bad. I still reckon Monson would win, but anything can happen when it comes to fight time.
