I was just going to say that...I am about as big as Jake definition wise, except I am at around 171 now (lots of gymnastic based strength training triggered a big muscle growth, I was 161 just a month or two ago). And I supplement most of my protein with quinoa, red quinoa (yummy) and lentils for examples, those 3 alone are biiiiig in protein.

I, honestly, am not big into eggs because most of the time it's either a pain in the butt to prepare or if you purchase it it takes like crap and is probably filled with preservatives BUT I don't see how they are unethical and if I can convince my mom to make em for me in the morning I'd probably consume the egg whites also.

oh and clearly this guy doesn't get "enough protein"

I dont think anybody will be able to argue with you there. Jake Shields is ripped and doesnt look malnourished or small at all for being a Vegetarian. It's personal preference really, to each his own.

I was on a diet for a little over a year (The Anabolic Diet) that was almost exclusively meat. I ate less than 30g carbs per day on Mon-Fri (most all of those 30g came from vegetables) and I ate whatever the hell kinds of carbs I wanted on Saturday-Sunday. The majority of my calories came from saturated fat, and obviously protein, but my blood cholesterol actually dropped over that period of time, as did my blood pressure while my renal function and liver enzymes improved. I was shocked, since that is the exact opposite of what most people say happens when you eat too much meat.

This is when I took weightlifting seriously, and I put on muscle like I was on steroids while losing bodyfat. It was crazy. It was tough to stick to after that long though, so I went back to normal food. Now, I do it for like 2 or 3 months at a time once a year or so when I feel ambitious.

But this assertion that they are super people because of their diet is absurd. Fighting is about technique, proper diet can make the body stronger, but proper technique can end a fight sooner and much easier. Not saying you can't have both mind you, but I think a lot of fighters out there think they are faster and stronger when they start these new diets and forget that knowing how to use what you have physically by mastering the proper techniques is the key. I would consider the physical to be the bullet and the technique to be the gun.
Are there even any vegan fighters? Vegetarians, in the true sense of the word, don't eat meat (including fish).

Vegans don't eat anything that comes from an animal, cheeses, eggs, milk, etc.

I know a couple vegans and they're pretty damn malnourished looking, but they're really happy and swear by the lifestyle.
