All these people saying "I see nothing wrong with that!" Obviously never got their 16 year old ass kicked by their 30-40 year old dad.

I have, and trust me, theres something wrong with it.

I have no use for a bleeding heart liberal neither,if that's how you wanna label someone. But I have a kid and I'm telling you right now the only thing Houston taught his kid(besides how to make a bad decision and go to jail)is to fucking take out his anger and frustration with people through violence.WHICH IS BAD FOR MMA,which I notice a lot of you like to pretend to care about,so long as it parallels your personal views.
I hear yeah bro, Its been getting to me as well. Sucks we have to lose another member with a soul. Great post.

Lots of times when I was growing up I got my ass handed to me by my old man. And I was a punk ass kid who did everything under the sun from stealing cars to selling drugs out the front door.

Theres better ways to get to your kid without punching them in the face.

Not even mentioning the fact that Houston is a trained fighter with lethal weapons for hands.

Lol how so? Talking to a girl your age=5 punches to the face. Talking to a girl underage=20 punches to the face and Child porn= 3 5minute rounds?

No matter what his son did, he doesnt deserve to stand in front of a full grown man in a confrontation and receive punches to the face. Especially something as stupid as not following the computer rules.

Imagine how scared this kid would be. I know its not fun, I've been there. I got plates and screws in my hand and arm from fighting with my old man because he was "teaching me a lesson" at 16... while hes 36 and ripped.

My hand is never going to be the same, my grip strength is fucked in my left hand. I have a hard time flicking a lighter or holding a cup/mug filled with something. I got rods all in my wrist, getting arthritis pains at 24.

    Some lesson.

(Sorry for the mini-rant its obviously a pretty sensitive issue for me, DAMN YOU DAD! lol)

i have no problem with discipline/punishment in parenting..what i dont agree with is getting physical with your child out of anger. imo there are plenty other things you can do besides hitting them.

It's depends how sexually explicit his son was online.

If there were nude 16 year old girls on his computer, and that computer was also used by Houston Alexander, then he could be charged with child porn.

In some states, if his 16 year old son received pics from 15 year old nude women, he could be charged with some statutory shit.

There are a lot of factors, and if his son had any nude pics of girls under the age of 18, then Houston's only legal option was to turn his son into the cops, but how many fathers would do that to their son.

What we do know, is that Houston was stupid for doing what he did. He is always a very easily marketable guy with a real positive life, doing work with charities too. All that shit is out the window now. He should have known better and known that doing something like he did would get around.

I'm sick of you always acting so reasonable and not jumping to conclusions. Why don't you just form your opinion based on the very few details available to you?

I think this is probably blown out of proportion. If the kid wound up in the hospital or something then okay, but a slight bloody nose.....he's probably had much worse getting in schoolyard tussles and playing sports.

This story is vague on details so a bleeding heart liberal would go nuts over the given information out of ignorance instead of waiting and then judging the situation once the whole story is out.

And yes. It is ignorant to fly off the handle. I did it when I was drunk and read the Lesnar hunting shit. Which brought my cognitive level down significantly and made me look like a dink in the process.

I'd have to say that houston was wrong to force his son to box with him as punishment, but at the same time, if he'd been training his son to box for some time, then it's not as bad as it would seem. However if his son never boxed a day in his life, then Houston was just being an asshole at that point. And at 16, if you haven't taught your son how to be an honorable man toward women and life in general, then it probably a little too late. This is one of those weird cases, I'm all for a father taking a strong hand with his son, teaching him respect and manhood. But if Houston basically beat a defenseless teenager up, that's not Fatherhood, it's just assault. Another thing, is that we don't know if his son is a really well conditioned athlete like his father. If he bloody the nose of a kid who walks around at 200 plus with 2% body fat, then it's a little different than a 140 lb weakling who doesn't exercise. and 16 is almost 18, so I don't find it as offensive as though it was a 12 year old.....

I think a lot of the responses here has to do with the fact that this generation of teenagers are pretty soft and disrespectful. Maybe Houston wasn't right to force his son to box, but I can understand the frustration of raising a teenage son in this culture from my experience with my now 18 y/o little brother. There were times when I could have gone to jail trying to teach him respect.....It's not easy at all.
