Its ok for the UFC to break policy and actually cater to the fighters that help make their sport what it is today. No matter what choice is made fans will just have to suck it up...

I think this is a fight possibility is a sign that Silva is close to retiring - more than anything. The time off from fighting while Georges is busy with Condit will allow for Anderson to drop some muscle and be able to make weight easier. If GSP loses to Condit and it is not even close --- I would still see this fight taking place if there is not an immediate rematch.

We will never see the Bones/Spider match that us fans have wanted since Bones thrashed Shogun.

Spider: 'Estou numa área de conforto. Posso me dar ao luxo de dizer não' | sportv.com

Anderson Silva: "Not against fighting Weidman, but for now my goal is to fight GSP"

    Translated from Portuguese...

Spider: 'I'm in a comfort zone. I can afford to say no '

Anderson Silva has received much criticism for refusing to face the American Chris Weidman, a leading candidate today to compete in the middleweight belt. During the launch of the second edition of his biography "The story of a champion in the ring and in life", in Sao Paulo, the Brazilian was justified in saying that it is a position that gives him the right to deny any fight and confirmed that only around in 2013. For him, Weidman still need to do more fighting and would be much more interesting to look at the Canadian Georges St-Pierre, the welterweight champion.

"Yes I got (the invitation to address Weidman), but I have other projects for the coming months and do not intend to fight back now. There is lack of humility on my part. I'm in a comfort zone, I can afford to not speak. The Weidman is a boy, has his talent and is building a story in the UFC. At no point did I put myself against the possibility of fighting him. But I think a fight against Georges St-Pierre would be much better, because he is a great champion and the fight would have much more content to people. The Weidman has a long career ahead of him still. I have my story, and would be much more advantageous for my fans and for fans of GSP if we we faced." - told SPORTV.COM .

No, novelty generates massive buys/interest amongst the casuals. There's no reason you can't have legitimacy with the occasional novelty.

Jones has a 6.9 inch reach and 2 inch height advantage over Anderson Silva.

I understand you are illustrating the size differences between Silva GSP and Jones Silva but I dont think Jones reach over Silva should even factor into the discussion.

Jones has had a significant reach advantage over ALL of his opponents. Of the last 10 UFC fights Jones has fought, his opponents reach was on average 75.6 inches. Anderson Silva's reach is 77.6. Anderson's reach is above average for Jones last 10 opponents.

That average is skewed a bit to from Bonnar (80) and Vera (78) who were the only 2 fights (of his last 10) in which his opponent had a longer reach than Silva.
Yea I read that wrong. Either way, the size difference isn't any bigger between silva vs GSP.

Vimmy, I would rather see GSP vs Silva because 1. I've wanted to see it for 5 years now. 2. Silva and Jones are my favorite fighters of all time and I couldn't sit through that fight comfortably knowing that one of them has to loose. I want Silva to go out undefeated in the UFC and I want Jones to go undefeated. 3. GSP is the bigger name

For all the people who seem positive on this fight, can you honestly tell me that you would rather see GSP versus Silva than Silva-Jones?

Infact, GSP had a 6 inch reach advantage over BJ Penn and a 1 inch height advantage over a natural lightweight.

I would love to see GSP vs Silva.

Doesn't Silva walk around like 8 lbs less than Jones and GSP is 20 lbs less than Silva?

(ignoring the obvious counter arguement ....) Do you think anyone that GSP has beat would make it out the first round with Silva? On Silva's worst day, Matt Sera would get KOd in the first minute. Silva has a good chance of beating everyone that Jones has fought: Rashad, Shogun, Machida....

If GSP-Silva happends, I will take 1:1 odds on Silva if there are any takers.

    GSP vs Silva

I would way rather see Jones versusu Silva. Much closer in size/weight and Silva has fought in the LHW dummying a former champion.

I would argue the odds for Silva-Jones would be much closer than Silva-GSP.
