I actually bought Rory's reason that the shuffle relaxes him and makes his opponent look at his footwork, because I've had a couple of people I train with tell me the exact same thing in Muay Thai. I don't do the Ali Shuffle, but I quickly cross back and forth between stances to throw my sparring partners off. The movement is different but the underlying reason is the same (if that is in fact Rory's reason).
I was kind of thinking the same thing it didn't really seem like he was trying to show BJ up with it when he was doing it.

I can't remember where but I saw it but McDonald did admit that he played it safe in the third because he didn't want to get caught with something when the fight was in the bag. I doubt he had any concerns about BJ Penn's well being, dignity or legacy.

It did seem like Rory held back right after BJ doubled over from that liver shot in the second. BJ was obviously in pain and it looked like Rory was going to finish him with punches then stopped.

I agree that he took off the pressure to minimize his risk of getting caught with something and finished. I don't think it had to do with having any regards for BJ's well being.

    Just re-watched the fight. Wish I hadn't.

I think he coasted through the 3rd.

Sometimes I forget that Rory is black. I mean he has to be black right? If he wasn't your post would just be nonsensical racism disguised as crying racism. You know since Rory is currently receiving crap from everybody.

Edit: I post from my phone, and I couldn't see who posted this. I thought it was real, and fired back to quickly. You has made me look like a fool sir. Well played. Well played.

P.S. I thought he was being a dick with his dancing and his post fight interview.
I thought he was having fun doing what he loves. Much like Anderson Silva.

i don't think that some people get that when you fight someone it's not a matter of hitting the dude a ton of times the in shortest amount of time possible it's literally power, speed and accuracy.. you can bliz a dude and have it work out for you but as much as your going to hurt him your hurting yourself by depleting your cardio.. if you pick your shots you do damage and you don't gas yourself because your being efficient.. it may not be every ones style but i think guys like carwin know what i'm talking about
