He's bitching because if he had beaten Hendricks (the real #1 contender) impressively, he was the closest contender to GSP's belt in the WW division. Now if he beats Marquardt (a non-top 10 WW), he doesn't have much claim.

In the end, he had the most to lose from the whole switch. Condit went from fighting Rory (one of the top contenders) to Hendricks (the #1 contender). Hendricks went from Ellenberger (a top 5-7 WW) to Condit (the #3 WW). Sure it may be a tougher test for Hendricks, depending on who you ask, but it solidifies his claim much more by beating Condit (the last challenger to GSP's belt) over Ellenberger.

Good for Marquardt, couldnt hurt in trying to get back into the UFC good graces lol. He gets to step right into a main card fight with a top 10 WW, good for him.

As bad as fucking up a fight on fight day is, Marquardt got a raw deal and should be in the UFC fighting good talent.

Carlos didn't "win on points" vs Jake in my opinion. Jake had a good start, but in my opinion Carlos took over that fight and clearly had more fight left in him at the end...

Marquardt is a tough fight for anyone at WW. He is still a top10 WW.

even though condit has a better record, ranking, and a win over ellenberger. right.
Did you see Ellenburger/Condit? Jake was takeing it to Carlos in the first and in the start of the 2nd and 3rd... He lost on points, but there is no question that he did more damage, he had Carlos fazed several times...

It all depends stylistically. Carlos is technically a better striker, has a more versed standup attack, but Jake has huge power... and much better wrestling than Carlos... If Jon gets in trouble he easily puts Carlos on his back, it wouldnt be that easy with Jake... but then again Carlos is a lot better of his back than Jake presumably. so you never know.

Before Ellenburger lost to Kampman, who he had hurt early on. He was on a decent run himself.

Dont know about that. Nate isnt the kickboxer that Condit is, but his hands are certainly better, and he packs more power... At his best I wouldnt be surprised at all to see Nate win a standup battle with Carlos... Carlos has decent leg kicks, but they dont really have the power behind them like Saff has.

Nate is also a lot stronger in the clinch and harder to take down.

Jeez. Talk about recency effect. A lot of people were considering Nate to be one of the strongest contenders for GSP after he beat Woodley and after he had one bad performance against Saffiedine, he is now a layup? Give me a fucking break. Nate is still a great well-rounded fighter.

I would've rather that they kept the Hendricks and Ellenberger fight and did a Nate/Condit fight instead. The reason is because if Condit beats Hendricks, it will have a similar scenario to HW, where there is no clear contender as Condit just got beat by GSP and an immediate rematch wouldn't make much sense. I think if Ellenberger fought and beat Hendricks instead, he would have had a strong claim as the new #1 contender.

Nonetheless, I will still enjoy both of those fights.

Did you see what he did to Woodley?

Still think Woodley is right about where Marquardt is in the standings.

Simply because Marquardt has only fought twice recently and is 1-1 in those fights. Plus he lost to a guy (Tarec) who Woodley beat pretty easily over a 3 round decision. Plus knocking out Hieron in under a minute is pretty impressive. Also, Woodley was apparently already in pretty good shape from what I understand, as he stated he was going to be ready to fill in for anybody that got injured on this card. This should be a war though. Usually when Marquardt can fight somebody who's going to stand in front of him and not look to take him down much, it's fireworks...

I think Nate is the better fighter here but will he come in good shape? Nate is a guy who's not going to be intimidated or back straight up, and he keeps his guard high. I think he's the more technical striker and he's got pretty good cardio.

I'm not saying Condit is or isn't a better fighter than Nate. But a layup? That's silly.

Nate is going to get beat and beat bad. Ellenberger TKO's him within the first 2rounds. Never really been a big fan of Nate so we'll see if his time away from the UFC actually helped him.
