CLARIFICATION: Apparently the site removed the word "not" from Cat's post as it says "not" in the actual link... (Some kind of crazy word trimmer??) The article says that Bellator isn't interested in Fitch.

Fitch verses Askren should be a chess match, but will prove the quality of Askren though. Fitch can make a good living and be the big dog in Belator

The UFC is within their rights to cut him but as a fan of Fitch I'm disappointed in their decision. With the amount of cards the UFC is pumping out, with the whirlwind of injuries the UFC suffered last summer, it seems odd to cut such an elite fighter. We've got Court McGee vs. Josh Neer on the main card of tonight's pay per view and the UFC feels they don't require the services of a guy like Jon Fitch? I don't get it.

In my opinion he's a pay per view quality fighter with name value. Name value based on a very successful UFC career that boosts the profile of any show he's on. Name value that gives his opponents credibility. Johny Hendricks can thank Fitch for putting him on the map. Maia is now considered a true threat at welterweight because of the value of beating him.

I hope Viacom and Bellator open up their wallet for him but I can't help but believe he belongs in the UFC.

Regardless of how much he costs, regardless of whether he is on the downside of his career and regardless of whether people like his fighting style, there is no doubt that John Fitch is one of the best welterweights in the world. Whatever company signs him is going to have a welterweight that could beat most of the UFC's welter weights.

This is one of the reasons I hated UFC buying Strikeforce. With no real competition the UFC can afford to release guys like Fitch and not worry about him making a legitimate competitor stronger. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone like Roy Nelson cut next.

I'm really hoping another company picks up a lot of these guys and grows big enough to compete with the UFC. Monopolies are rarely benevolent, just ask the iron.

Relax I am sure he will find another org he can fight in like Bellator.

Besides, Jon Fitch could do something else with his life. No one forced him in to MMA. I can guarantee he's already made over a million dollars fighting.
Bought a home for himself and his parents. He has to keep fighting.

Those are bonuses they are paid. Not guaranteed amounts. Not everyone gets paid what McCall did. There are an equal number of interviews with fighters griping about their shitty pay as there are satisfied fighters.

You are nuts if you think Fitch got those bonuses aside from his awesome fight with Silva.

But when you hear Dana White talking on the Rogan podcast about gambling where he has lost up to a million dollars a night and then you read him saying Fitch is too expensive.....

Things that make you go hmmmmmm

    No doubt.

A perennial top 5 fighter expensive?

No shit son. He is near top of his division and sport.

Other sports have rookie scrubs that fail out of camp that make as a signing bonus what Fitch made in his career.
