Not when they have other means of applying pressure to their fighters. I remember when Jones backed out of 151, Monte Cox was on the SRN and talked about how "generous" Zuffa can be with their unreported non discretionary pay and bonuses, if you tow the company line. If you don't, those bonuses can be taken away. I think that's what Dana is referring to in the original article.

It's not good for business and it's not good for the credibility of the championships to break the lineage of the title. Especially with cases of dominant champs like Aldo and Anderson. I've always agreed with the Ric Flair philosophy, "To be the man, you gotta beat the man!"

As for Pettis, since we're always talking about "money" fights, I think the UFC is FUCKING CRAZY for not talking him into rematching Ben Henderson. Aldo has solid challengers ready to go, if Ben gets passed Gil who's he going to fight? IMO they're missing an opportunity to print money off of Bendo/Pettis II.
I didn't come up with a scenario to strip Aldo of his title. I just offered it as a possible action the UFC could take.

Oh and as for the 'Zuffa not stripping Aldo because they didn't strip Randy' argument... they actually did strip Randy in the late 90's after he won the HW title the first time. Reason? Contract dispute that ended with him leaving the company.

WW champion BJ Penn was also stripped when they had a contract dispute.

LW champion Jens Pulver was also stripped after a contract dispute.

And in case you haven't been paying attention, it doesn't look like the UFC cares about the integrity of these titles like they used to.

I'm sure the UFC could strip him and suspend him. That way he'd still be under contract, not getting paid to fight, and unable to fight in another promotion.

Whoever wins the belt while Aldo is out will receive more attention by having it (either despite being a paper champion or because of it). And when Aldo finally does come back, people will want to see him win the title back. All the drama will help create more sales.

The UFC will end up winning in the end.

Fighters absolutely do not get to decide who they fight next unless the UFC allows them to. Aldo is fighting Pettis and Silva is fighting Weidman.

Shogun should be forced to fight that dude that beat Rampage and if he says No again hes out too.

    Enough is enough.

    ...in the UFC, you mean.

Hendo did it in PRIDE, and for what it was worth, Sheilds did it in EXC.

Are you OK if they do that with the Anderson/Weidman fight too?

Weidman has an infinitely better claim as a contender than Pettis does.

I cant put Aldo in front of Pettis anymore because he just publicly admitted hes scared of him. Whats up with Brazilian coward belt holders?
So he is or isn't top 5?

A top 5 list is too complicated for you yet you feel you can criticize others list

And clearly yes it is too hard for you to pick 5 names without google, hence you finding it too complicated.

Well your Bendo argument can be applied to Jones as well yet everyone has him top 3. I have Bendo losing vs Edgar in the 2nd fight too but gifted is too strong of a word in a close fight. I also believe that Bendo has improved more than any other fighter close to the top 5 p4p in the past year and a half.

Id have Pettis 4th but he had a bad fight recently. Id say Cain would be the last on my list or even not top 7 now that I think about it more since his gas tank was worst than JDS at the end of their fight when he didn't even take any damage. Like I said, its too complex to have solid answers. Who the hell cares what my p4p list is anyway?

    Pettis top 4 p4p is a joke.

Again, when you shit talk others list but then can't supply your own people are going to call your ignorance out.

We did see a blip in Jones' ground defence against Vitor, but aside from that blip, it's tough to say it's a true weakness until it's fully exploited.

I don't if Sonnen will truly exploit Jones' grappling. I feel like Sonnen will be picked apart but then again Sonnen has surprised me a few times now.
    .
Agreed. ALso, I have questioned Sonnens TDs before against guys I thought he was going to struggle against and he did fine. Just as I questioned his stand up against guys I thought were going to have is number. He is the wild card of the UFC that's for sure. You might not know which SOnnen will show up for a fight, but his opponents better not take him lightly.

And some Brazilians have great TDD Aldo being one of them, I still believe JDS has great TDD also it just happened to leave him after Cain laid a big right on his jaw.
