I think a fighter that knows how to use a good butterfly guard and scramble hard and fast when GSP tries to pass could nullify GSP's wrestling and get back to his feet. This is easier said then done obviously. But you have to really attack GSP when he's on top, go for broke. I don't think his GNP has that much TNT, because he worries more about maintaining position. So it beholfves a fighter on his back to use a butterfly guard and attack his hips, then scramble like hell when he tries to pass. Hanging out in the guard = losing when fighting GSP.

How about Diaz-Bisping at 185? Nick wants to fight Anderson, so see if he can handle Bisping first.

Would the internet just explode if this happened?

So far I keep hearing different accounts. One of his managers or lawyers said he's paid in the past two years.

At the same time I wouldn't be surprised if he just said that to get a reaction out of people. Who knows who cares.

Yes, under the influence of Nick Diaz's awesomeness.

When a wrestler has a hole or doesn't have a hole they are criticized either way. I hate that, and that's why I can't wait for the generation of well rounded fighters to crop up.
GSP isn't just a wrestler; he's possibly the best wrestler in MMA (according to takedown success %) & also has crisp striking that he can use to setup those takedowns. Saying someone has a "hole in their game" because they get taken down by GSP is sort of like saying someone's striking sucks because Anderson Silva punched them a lot. It's not like Diaz was getting taken down at will by a college kid with no MMA experience. He was able to stuff a number of takedowns in the later rounds & most guys haven't been able to do that against GSP.

Against another fighter with a wrestling base Diaz would perform better, because not every MMA wrestler is as good as GSP.

That generation is already here, but you're not appreciating it. There will never be a time when every fighter is GSP. Every fighter will always be better at some skills than he is at others. Even Anderson Silva has weaknesses, but he's so great at what he does well he's able to compensate for them. I greatly prefer that then a bunch of cookie cutter fighters.

Particularly, in the Condit fight, it was clear that Condit's strategy was working for him as he was getting his shots in and not getting trapped against the cage by Diaz. In the GSP fight, he obviously didn`t have any strategy for keeping himself out of danger for takedowns. As well, he kept trying to catch GSP with the same sweeps/subs even though GSP wasn't taking the bait. There likely wasn't even a backup plan worked out and if there was, Diaz never tried to do it. It's more a failure of the camp/coach as Shields and Nate have both been in similar situations where their primary gameplan was neutralized and they had nothing to fall back on.
This is a fair point, but to be honest, why would you need a backup plan if the strategy had worked in your last 10 fights? Also, if Shields couldn't get GSP down & Diaz couldn't stuff at least half GSP's takedowns then they weren't winning no matter what their backup plan was because their greatest strength was neutralized.

Nick did actually adjust as he crawled to the cage & used that to get himself up. What is the strategy for "keeping himself out of danger for takedowns" while trying to box? He has to get into a boxing range to box, which is also a takedown range. The strategy is usually to sprawl, which worked sometimes & didn't others.

Totally agree with Riv.... same old Georges indeed. Im am not Canadian, but I too am now bored as fuck with GSP. I thought this was the fight that GSP would come in and get the finish, but alas. George just wants the W and will take his opponent down at will to get it. Granted I still say GSP won the fight on the feet also and I cant believe some here disagree with that. However, if Hendricks can stuff GSP takedowns, GSP is going to have to finally take chances and be aggressive because Hendricks will be coming forward the whole fight.

PS- and I know Diaz gets bashed a lot and god knows he asks for it. But any chance there is a method to his madness? There is that old saying "any publicity is good publicity". Look how much he is talked about especially online. That must have generated extra $$ throughout his career.
