Belcher: Bisping couldn't KO me if I let him hit me with his best punch - Mixed Martial Arts News

"This fight is just like, you know, the biggest fight of my life," Belcher admitted during a pre-fight interview with UFC.com. "We both have a lot on the line for this one, we're both getting close to a title shot, so a loss could be detrimental..."

There is certainly a great deal riding on the outcome of the match, and Belcher plans on making the most of the opportunity. He sees himself cashing in because of his perceived overall skill advantage as well as his power.

I think that my skill-set and all the different weapons I have, along with my power, is going to be the difference in the fight. I have no doubt in my mind that Bisping could not knock me out with his best punch if I let him. There's no way that I am going to get hurt in this fight and that I'm going to go down.

Though Bisping isn't exactly known for his punching power, he may object to the assumption that Belcher is the much harder hitter, given that he owns 14 knockouts over 28 career fights to Belcher's nine over 25 bouts.

I'm not going to lie, I used to play golf in school, and it was basically us vs. the rich schools. We always used to talk so much trash to these kids that we were paired up with. I think in golf, it makes the time go by quicker. And obviously had to try to Happy Gilmore off the tee if there was no chance of us winning.

*edit - I just watched the video about the bet, ridiculous. Are fighters even allowed to bet on fights, let alone their own? Would be hilarious to see Belcher rock a huge British flag tho along with that god awful Johnny Cash tattoo haha.

One of my football coaches had a great saying about trash talk.. "dont ever say anything they can put up in the locker room."

What is exactly the purpose of talking shit?
If it is for hype and your boss asks you to do that, I can understand.

But if you do that genuinely, what is the point? Talking shit will not make you perform better. Actually it may be the opposite, you are giving yourself and extra pressure because you have talked shit and now you are forced to back it up.

If you want to play mind games, well it is not going to work with someone who is mentally tough.

Yes I have played competitive sports so many times, and talking shit has never helped me. Listening shit form other people has not affected me either.

It is a waste of time. You can do it in a "joking way", but to seriously talk shit? It is pointless.

In the case of MMA, actually almost all the great fighters, all the champions are not trash talkers.

Cain velasquez does not talk shit. Jones is very immature and arrogant, but he is not an avid trash talker.
Anderson very rarely talks shit. GSP is one of the most respectful guys ever.
Bendo does not talk shit, Aldo does not that either.

When you talk so much shit, it is simply a clear sign that you are a very insecure person.

I believe it's more part of their competitive nature rather than "beef" or for fans entertainment.

And then again you won't hear any trash talk from some people.

Hell, even GSP was trash talking in his last fight against Diaz; he just happened to bring that fire out of GSP like we haven't seen before (to my memory). Too bad it didn't translate to in-cage aggression.

Can someone explain the Rolls Royce bit? Does Belcher have a sugar daddy? Lol
I talk trash before playing video games or a game of racquetball or even ping pong, I'm pretty sure I would talk some trash before a cage fight. I'm sure all these fighters were already doing all this trash talk before during the months of preparation, only now there is more coverage of MMA so we get to hear it more often.

Perhaps he knows Bisping doesn't own anything worth $300k?
