JDS vs Roy1 was a onesided fight that unless Roy lands the over hand i dont see changing however i see hunt standing in front of JDS and getting beat down going to a dec cause Hunt never seems to fall
Hunt has many past escalades and I believe the UFC wants JDS Cain III. They figured they can hype the fight and JDS should win, and if not there hype of Hunt would get a push from a Roy fight for a title shot. It's hard to figure what the UFC will do when there's no consistency to there thoughts.

Just because Roy got a KO in his last fight does not mean that he became a top 5-10 fighter over night.

Roy deserves JDS by no means.

A > top 10 fighter does not deserve a #2 fighter simply because of a flash KO.

I like Roy, but I think he'll lose the the top guys in the division including everyone his manager listed as a future opponent.

Roy Nelson will fight Daniel Cormier for immediate 205-pound UFC title shot - MMAmania.com
"You know, I think in our sport, there's a couple guys that get to fight everybody like three or four times, and I'm one of those guys, I guess, that get's to fight everybody once. Like, I've been trying to fight Big Nog since after the Junior dos Santos fight, and that was two years ago. I'm all about the big fights. That's why I think a fight with Big Nog would be great. As far Daniel (Cormier), I think the reason Mike, my manger, said anything about Daniel, is because he's supposed be getting an immediate title shot at 205. If he's going down to 205, it doesn't really make any sense to fight him, unless we're going to fight for a 205 contendership. Then hey, we can do that, too."

Roy has nothing to gain from fighting DC

except moving up in the rankings, with a win

and giving the fans a fight they will pay for.

I could give two shits about Roy fighting Rothwell, or any other HW

Hunt and JDS are going at it

    Cain and Bigfoot are fighting

theres no other HW that I want to see Roy fight, other than DC. Who else is there? Pat Barry? Big Nog? Mir?

Other than DC, I'm not paying for any other Roy fight

    goodtimes
If his manager is saying he doesn't want Roy to fight DC, one of the best wrestlers at HW, but then lists off a bunch of strikers it's because he doesn't like the stylistic match up.

I don't see how Roy's team would be in a position to pick fights though; being offered a fight against a top 5 guy and turning it down sounds pretty bad to me. DC is not an unproven quantity; he destroyed the current #1 contender recently and soundly beat Barnett who's been a top 5 for ages. Then throw Mir in there; I didn't like the fight but I think Mir closed a lot of his defensive holes when he changed camps so he wasn't as easy to stop as he normally is.

Roy on the other hand has had no luck against top 10 guys. His team should be grateful that they are getting a chance to beat the top prospect at HW.

A win for JDS gets him Cain. A loss puts him at 0-2, and then he would be a possible fight for Roy. Losing your last 2 fights does not help you hold onto a ranking, unless of course your name is Bisping.

Their only common foes are Mir and Monson, both of which Cormier cruised blissfully to victory, while Nelson dropped both bouts. People have alot of love for Roy and its well earned with awesome KOs and such, but there seems to be a selective memory when it comes to how badly he got beaten in the JDS and Werdum fights.

IMO, and you can explain to me otherwise here, but I've never got the logic in saying somebody like Nelson or say, Hunt or Leban has a "good chin" as a complement, it always puzzles me. As that chin isn't going to last forever and eventually will crack, not to mention that I think there's a method to the madness for the guys who don't get hit with such ferocity....
Good post with alot of great points.

A win over Cormier would certainly up Roy's ranking in the heavyweight division so there is certainly something to gain.
