Exactly. The reason why he was so good in K-1 was because hardly anyone could reach to hit him properly. Technically he wasn't that good, he had some moves that worked for him and he used those to boredom and with great success. But his overall skills even as a kickboxer weren't that great. It's not that hard pepper people with shots when your reach advantage is massive. Just imagine the like of Mark Hunt, Mighty Mo and Ray Sefo fighting him... And especially the 1st fight with Ray Sefo was just endless clinching when ever Ray could actually get into range. In the 2nd he surprised Sefo with a shot from an angle that just wouldn't work for normal sized people.
He always seemed to struggle against other tall fighters, he even lost to Hong Man Choi. Aerts beat him twice just by pushing forward.

So yeah, certainly not the greatest of all time. Not even in kickboxing.

His career in PRIDE is remembered specially by the epic beating that Kharitonov put on him, he had some wins against unknown japanese dudes but against elite fighters he lost.
He had a decent career in MMA, but it is not that he had a career that will be remembered for the decades.

As for kickboxing, he is a legend without a doubt, But IMO his size played a very huge factor, because there is more than one fighter who technically is much better.

I am not saying that he sucks or anything, he is a monster and a fighting machine, a K-1 Legend, but King Mo is really overrating him.

Since it was on a radio show the topic probably was brought up.

Mo definitely shows little humility, but I don't doubt that he can be a respectful person every once and a while.

A heart condition was detected last month which caused him to announce his retirement. Never was disclosed what type.

He left out the main fact, that Shilt was a multiple time Pancrase Champion.

His arguement does hold some weight.

KB does not =/= all-around fighting in my opinion.
