I'm still trying to wash that Varner loss out of my mouth(give him a minor mulligan since Varner was short-notice for Dunham), and think he should be trying to take on any and all comers they're offering to build back up that reputation and hype he was building when he murdered Etim's face.

Barboza's last two opponents have been painfully last minute replacements(originally slated to fight Salas and Makdessi) and if anything, beating Khabilov would at least be a forward swing of momentum, which he should look to continuously improve. Gomi, Miller, Wiman, Thomson, Nate and Gray are really the only top-ish LWs available. I suppose he wants a Bobby Green, Norman Parke, Stout or Tokudome-level fight, which I think is lame at this juncture....

since then hes beat up on two cans not to take anything away from that but he has shown nothing to me to show he belongs in the discussion with the guys at the top
I would say he's earned a step up in competition. I'd like to see him take the winner of Dos Anjos vs Cerrone. A fight with Khabilov is a no win scenario.

if this is true then i think it's b.s. that edson / edson's camp turned down the fight... does the UFC have any type of recourse for fighters who refuse fights? what can they do? just bench edson for a long time?

This fight wouldn't favour Barboza at all not surprised the didn't want to take it

...with that said, Khabilov is an animal in his own right. I'd love to see that fight and I'm a bit disappointed that it won't happen.
