Very good read from Nate, telling it like it is. A ton of respect for him. Dana can defend Nate's pay at the time of Nate's title fight with his 40 million in the hole argument and I think that's fair. But that excuse loses all traction once the UFC is out of the red. With the increased revenue it should have been reflected in fighter pay more than it has. I've mentioned it before that if the UFC wants to compare itself to the other big leagues, wants to attract elite athletes to the sport then they need to buck up. With the exception of a few that are well payed, the UFC is basically on par with CFL salaries and on the base pay level are even below them on annual pay. People were talking about Gilbert Melendez fetching 200,000 per fight. Fighting 3 times a year is he even scratching what the base pay is in the MLB? He's an elite fighter, if that's the best the UFC can do (or not do) any argument that Dana makes that this isn't a fringe sport is null and void.

Dana White is really a boxing promoter and his "partners" are Casino Tycoons. So it's not that surprising that they nickel and dime fighters and fans, and will continue to do so until the well drys up. They could not care less about the spirit of the sport, just how much money it can make them. If cuban got someone to promote his org, like lets say maybe Chuck Norris and/or Bas Rutten? And then he really fucks with the UFC by issuing an open challenge once they develop a deep fighter pool complete with champions. He issues an open challenge for other orgs to compete with his in a tourney to settle "who's the best in the world". Dana would call that "fucking insane and stupid", while ESPN and the rest of the media would applaud the move. Leaving the UFC looking like a brand too scared to prove that UFC fighters are the Best, look at what happened when they went to PRIDE with Chuck Liddell.....
Isn't that almost exactly what the UFC did until the past few years? Every upstart company or company trying to rebuild, it makes sense to make yourself an attractive option. But once youve built yourself/company up and start feeling comfortable with where the company is its natural to start trying to abuse your power and try to benefit yourself. Its just the normal cycle of a business owner, or let me clarify, maybe not "normal" but predictable

True, my point was just that if Mark Cuban started an MMA promotion there is no evidence he would run it differently than the UFC
