i dont like that some of the good guys dont make as much as they deserve but thats life honestly and as for the whole six figure tuf contract deal it works out somehow with each fighter fighting 3 fights a year the first fight they get 12,000 i think and 12,000 if they win then the amount goes up each year and if they win all the fights then they make around or over they're six figure contract or some shit like that i dont exactly remember all the details of it but its works kinda like that so its not totally a six figure contract unless you win win win win but say you do win and win a title then you have to get paid more for your fights pretty much so you'll more than likely be making over your six figure contract like say bisping i see him winning a belt within 3 years of him winning tuf so he'll probably make more than a six figure contract
It,s a reality that this business is ruthless with most fighters being paid very little, but as it grows and more competition evolves, they will be forced to pay more for the top fighters or lose money on PVP. AS IN ALL MAJOR SPORTS, WHEN THE ATHELETES WAKE UP AND ORGANIZE, OR AT LEAST GET SOME MANAGERS LOOKING OUT FOR THEM THAT KNOW THE BUSINESS, then they will be paid fairly. AND MAYBE WHEN THE FANS GET TIRED OF SEEING 1 GOOD MATCH AND 11 MEDIOCRE ONES FOR 39.99 , AND STOP PAYING THE BASTARDS for mediocre events, they will wisen up in a hurry.
do u guys think that as the sport becomes more and more popular the fighters will get more money since it is really becoming more popular? and dont the sponcers of the fighters pay them to advertise their company? if so can any of u guys find out how much money popular guys like chuck, rich, matt, and tito make from their sponcers like tapout and xzience and stuff.
thats bullshit about the shamrock pay, honestly nobody thought he had a chance and he got paid more then aa. i know that tito is very interesting and former champion and one of the most popular ufc fighters, but y does he get paid more then the current heavyweight or previous heavyweight champion?
i dont really get the 6 figure contract thing. did they just give him that money stright up or what? or does he fight a certain amount of fight and get paid a certain amount each fight or what?
i would like to see all of them guys get paid more, except for ortiz that is a pritty good paycheck for one fight. but like i said that is chump change compaired to other professional athletes. im beginning to wonder if i should still go after mma, since i would have to be at the top to get a lot of money.
wwe wrestlers and other professional athletes get paid way more, mma is probably the most u have to train for any professional sport, and is very hard consitering that u have to cover every aspect of mma. it would be nice to see them get some more cash.
ya it isnt that good paying unless ur at the top. in pride if when u get paid do u always get paid in japanese currency or do they transfer it to ur countrys currency, because what if their county's excange rate is horrible and they lose out on a ton of money.
I just read through 3 pages of people complailning about dana white. A couple points. The fighters basically get paid their market value. Kinda like going to the grocery store and getting a steak. For 2 bucks you can get a cube steak or you can fork out the 15 bucks for a porterhouse. The UFC is a business. It happens to be a very lucrative business for the owners and partners. I work for one of the largest companies in the world the CEO has a base salary of over a million dollars a year and bonuses in excess of 2million. I don't bitch about 60 hour weeks or how much the company makes. I come in do my job and take my 50K a year. If I decide I don't like it anymore i go somewhere else. Every fighter has that same option.
That being said I would like to see more of the quality fighters and see Zuffa fork out the bucks to get them here. But as long as they are making money and running a profitable business i am not holding my breath waiting for that to happen. Anyone on this board that was in their shoes would be doing the same thing. And if they say they wouldn't they are lying.
I think it's interesting to see how much these atheletes are making.....we know in every other sport, so why not MMA.
I think in any industry, people have a pretty good idea of what people are making...
well i have to say i am proud of this thread it has brought up some very valid points. Firstly i agree with taz on how stupid it was to give shamrock the worst coach in mma history a $10,000 BONUS FOR PLAYING pool. That really pissed me of and i really beleive that if Kalib was on tito's team he would have done exceptionally well and maybe won it. Also thos guys who are decent like josh neer who get paid under $10,000 really have no use and i gurantee if the purses were higher you would see better fighters.
