huh? That has been Diego's bread n butter for a very long time. His guard has always been very impressive. This man went to ADCC in 2005. His ground skills is impressive all the same, but his guard is very good.

    I'm glad you don't contest round 1 to Karo... here's round 2:

    minute 1:
Absolute domination by Karo in standup - lots of good head shots, Diego consistently on the back foot. Huge slam at the 1 min mark.

    minute 2:
All Karo again. Decent lnp/gnp with several good punches and elbows, Diego attempts an impromptu kneebar but is easily escaped by Karo, who resumes the dominant position against the fence.

    minute 3:
Both men look tired - sloppy standup battle ensues, with Diego getting the better of Karo in the weak exchanges. Weak takedown eventually into Karo's guard then some good rib punches.

    minute 4:
Diego lnp/gnp with a few nice shots, but mosly nullified by Karo's guard. Nice knee at the minute mark in thai clinch.

    minute 5:
Karo lands some nice standup shots, then lnp until the round closes.

    Summary:

Total Karo domination for the first two minutes, next two minutes to Diego (but 3rd minute esp. is nowhere near as dominant as Karo's first two). Karo easily takes the final minute.

Round to Karo, no doubt at all.

Karo Dominated round 2 early ,but I think Diego stole the round late in the second.

Yeah I think Karo was definitely the better fighter and it looked like he caught an unintentional finger in the eye early on.I think if that had not happened Karo would of dominated rounds one and two.His judo was too much for Diego.Karo was manhandling him.Throwing him around with ease.Diego won that fight ,b/c of an unintentional finger in the eye and better conditioning.Karo definitely looked more skilled.

Karo won round 1, Karo won round 2, landed stiff jab after stiff jab, very impressive takedowns and some GNP. Round 2 was clearly Karo. Round 1 was close but I gave that to Karo as well, the short uppercut was huge, it created a mouse immediately under Karos eye and it was only 1 or 2 punches to the other eye that fucked that one up.

So yes if you judge on dmage Diego won but if you are judging by rounds Karo took both round 1 and round 2, Karo gassed in round 3 and that is all everyone seems to remember and not Karo's first 2 rounds.
Exxxactly. Karo won rounds 1 and 2!!! - I'm really struggling to call it any other way.

And before I get ostracised, I was completely impartial in this fight - I didn't care who won, and I have watched it through 3 times now. For elaboration, see this thread:

basically, Karo landed more decent shots, and more (rather brutal) takedowns, and was more effective on the ground in round 1.

    ..

sorry to say but Diego won round one. It was a clear win so diego haters get over it!! It wasn't like the jardine-bonnar decision where you knew bonner lost. When you use the bj Penn example and talk aboput he did more damage that is a different compaRISION. gSP cleary won the last two rounds which is why he inched out the decision.Bj may be the strongest satarter in the division but he has to get his cardio up

Diego round one. tight but I gave it to Diego, Round two Karo hands down, Round three obviouslu Diego Huge. but now 29-28 all the way for Diego this 30-26 or whatever the dominant score was no way. But Karo winning striking that you can judge on looks. because all that GSP on looks well He won the fight but not on striking thats for sure. Diego won all points of MMA except for Judo.... Ok Karo made him look amatuer. but thats it. And I am the first to admit even earlier in this Thread that I dont Like Diego and I lost a bet. but Diego won..

There was no 10-8 rounds i agree with that but there it was very clear Diego was the better fighter that night. Period.

Karo did have one ridiculous takedown when he flipped diego but not enough for a win
