    i heard that his contract was up and so he left because a nother organization was going to pay him more money and he was able to fight at any weight he wanted to............ o and also it was also in his home town

    Yeah, I heard that his fight with Hughes was the last fight according to his contract. However, UFC has a clause that when you become a champion, you are automatically obligated to do three more fights. In the process, BJ wanted to do some fighting in Japan but Dana refused. So he walked away from the title.

    Little off topic but did you guys see the weigh-in for BJ-GSP? Dana White offered him a handshake to each fighter and BJ totally ignored Dana. That was pretty cool to watch Dana with his hand hanging out there in front of nobody

    He didn't walk away from the title. He was stripped for fighting at K-1 Romanex against Duane "Bang" Ludwig" without the UFC's consent. Also, like Afrosamurai said, his contract was up and he and UFC severed ties.
