I own the DVD and have watched the entire fight many times as it is one the best MMA fights ever. The tap was claimed to have come while on the ropes as you stated but it was not a tap to give up, it was a tap so signal to Royce that he's ok as the result of an accidental knee to the groin.

He was on his way to a fourth meeting with the champ but had to pull out due to an injury sustained in training (that was when Mark Hunt stepped in to take his place). Yeah, Saku got rematches with the champ when he wanted them, even when he wasn't the number one contender and had already been beaten by the champ several times. Yet he never gives out rematches to the opponents he's beaten. And Pride has never pushed for it. I'd love to see him rematch Ryan. And I thoroughly enjoyed seeing him get his ass handed to him by Arona. I'm glad he's gone from Pride now, he always recieved too much favortism.
Sak was destroyed in the first fight but in the second fight it was dead even in tyhe first round and at the end of it Sak broke his collar bone. He was getting rematches because he was the most exciting PRIDE fighter or MMA fighter in the history of MMA because he tried and pulled off moves you only saw in martial arts movies, no one would dare try that stuff in a real fight but Sak did. He was vastly skilled in wrestling, striking and grappling, one of the most well rounded fighters ever.

He was 185lbs and Wand was 205 yet Sak always had a very good chanec at beating Wand, it just did not happen but the fights were always exciting, it was more so the peoples choice fight but it was not like Wand vs some can that all of the Japanese fans adore, you don't give Sak much credit at all man, your username pretty much sums it up.

Yes I know what a paradox is and that statement seemed quit contradictory. I know what your saying though. I saw the fight. He tapped but didn't tap in the sense that he wanted the fight to stop.

    Intresting Paradox you have there.

I also hate Ramon Dekker's "The Turbine from Hell."

The tap you see is not Sakuraba tapping. It is Sakuraba making fun of Royce. If you watched the fight then you would know this. The commentators even talk about it. It is just part of Sakuraba's antics. There was no biased reffing. Please do not let your love of the gracies cloud your vision.
