I see. Looks like there's some arm twisting going on. Either that or Dana knows of an injury but doesn't want to impact ticket sales for the event. Time will tell. The article you posted finishes with Dana saying, "I've got to talk to Wanderlei". I'm just reading between the lines (or hallucinating).

Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann not taking place at UFC 130 after all | Five Ounces of Pain

Fans excited about the prospect of ferocious striker Wanderlei Silva crossing paths with rapidly-improving Marine hero Brian Stann on Memorial Day Weekend at UFC 130 had their hearts broken on Friday when it came to light “The Axe Murderer” will not be healthy enough to fight on the card as originally scheduled. Silva has been out with broken ribs and a knee injury sustained while training and hasn’t seen action since a decision win over Michael Bisping a little less than a year ago.
News of the middleweights’ pairing initially came in an official UFC statement while MMAFighting was the first to report the match-up had been scrapped. Stann had requested to fight Silva after beating Chris Leben at UFC 125.
However, while Silva and Stann may not be fighting at the event, UFC 130 still appears to be an exceptionally strong card even though it is still months away. In addition to the conclusion of lightweight champ Frank Edgar’s trilogy with Gray Maynard, the May 28 show will also feature former 205-pound title-holder Quinton “Rampage” Jackson taking on resurgent Brazilian Thiago Silva and Frank Mir mixing it up with rival Roy Nelson.
Not sure what to think of this. Sounds like Wanderlei is reluctant to take this fight . . . there appear to be more than one explanation for why that is.

I think if he can get cleared fast enough.. Vitor might wanna take this fight. After that embarrassing loss last night you'd think he'd wanna jump back into the cage as quick as possible and I think him and Stann could put on a great show.

As far as I know, Wand said that he has some health issues and wont be fighting at UFC 130, but hopefully it is not true.
I dont know who is going to hate Wand, he is the most beloved fighter in MMA.
Stann maybe has that "american hero" personality, but Wand is Wand.

Well, I guess Wand didn't luck out after all.

Dana White says Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann still on for UFC 130

Dana White says Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann still on for UFC 130 | MMAjunkie.com

LAS VEGAS – Despite conflicting reports, UFC president Dana White insists Wanderlei Silva (33-10-1 MMA, 3-5 UFC) will indeed meet Brian Stann (10-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) at UFC 130.

The UFC boss told MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) that while Silva has shown some resistance to the matchup, the two middleweight sluggers will indeed meet in May.

"It's on," White said flatly of the matchup. "It's on."

Featuring a lightweight title fight between current champion Frankie Edgar and nemesis Gray Maynard, UFC 130 takes place May 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Stann first initiated talks of the potential matchup by respectfully asking for the fight following a January TKO win over Chris Leben.

"This is with the utmost respect," Stann started. I think I'd like to fight Wanderlei (Silva) next. He's been a guy that I've watched for years before I ever put a glove on. He's amazing. I want him."

White then cast some doubt over the matchup at a January Q&A session in Texas, when he admitted Silva wasn't too keen to playing a bad guy against the man known as "All American."

"We were actually trying to hook [Silva] up with Brian Stann," White said in January. "He doesn't want to fight Brian Stann. He's like, '[Expletive] that. Everybody is going to hate me if I fight Brian Stann. Everybody loves Brian Stann.' But that's the fight we're trying to make right now."

Nevertheless, earlier this week the Silva vs. Stann matchup was announced via the UFC's web-based series, "UFC Ultimate Insider," and the bout is still listed on UFC.com.

MMA Fighting reported earlier this week that Silva would not be fully recovered from a recent knee surgery in time for the matchup with Stann, and White admitted he's still receiving some resistance from "The Axe Murderer" in regards to facing a fan favorite and decorated American war hero.

"You know Wanderlei," White said. "He's not afraid to fight anybody, but Wanderlei is one of those guys. He's like, 'Boss, everybody will hate me if I fight this guy.'

"I'm like, 'Trust me, nobody is going to hate you, Wanderlei.' People love you."

Despite Silva's concerns, White said the show will carry on as planned.

"I've got to talk to Wanderlei," White said.
