It didnt look that way to me... but I wouldnt be shocked if the damage given was closer than most people realize... GSP doesnt really have devastating GNP.

This has been known about him for a long time now... Im sure they are trying to improve it...

Some guys just have a talent for something like Muay Thai or BJJ, while they have a shorter ceiling with their wrestling abilities.

It depends on your definition of "good guard" but all I see against every wrestler thats been on top of Silva is what I call "holding on for dear life". The guy does almost nothing from guard, he doesnt even throw elbows from it anymore.

GSP's face looked WAY worse after the fight when he started to swell up. Some peoples faces do that more than others and has nothing to do with who won the fight. Black fighters never look like that, I guess GSP should get a spray on tan so people don't think he lost...

Ya his defensive wrestling is just not that good. He relies on scrambles, being able to recover guard, and being aggressive from the guard. Against people with really good top games like GSP it's just not enough, you need to be able to stuff shots to wear your opponent down faster.

Silva/Sonnen is the perfect example. First fight, Silva barely wins because he has a good guard, but it was pretty lucky. Second fight, once he stuffs a few consecutive takedowns Sonnen has nothing for him.

Coach would be in hot water if he came out bad mouthing GSP as he spends/has time at Jacksons gym. Funny though how they kept Condit away from GSP at the gym so some day this fight could happen, but Jones was with Rashad, and GSP around Diego

It goes beyond just bruising easily though. Can't write off having his whole sinus area cut open and the entire top half of his face bruised to just bruising easily. Those short punches from the bottom don't look like much, but they were definitely adding up.

It is a good indicator of who took more damage though. Even if you want to attribute it to having thinner skin, that's just a physical disadvantage like having a weak chin.

For example, I bet Silva's face felt a lot better the next day then Sonnen's did in the first fight. I bet GSP's face felt awful after that fight as well (Condit's probably did too, but not to the same extent.)

Winklejohn isn't arguing that Condit won the fight, he's just saying that he felt like Condit did just as much if not more damage. I'd agree with him. On points, GSP wins a blow out, no one is arguing with that.

Fighters like GSP, Diaz, Wandy, Hominick have an unfortunate situation. They cut and bruise quite easily, so after the fight, it looks like they took a lot more damage than they may have actually endured

Not taking anything away from Condit, he's a fucking warrior, but I think those same shots would have resulted in much less damage to say a guy like BJ
