I see the appeal and the draw of the GSP/Diaz fight, it's entertaining and it draws big $$$. Still, it just doesn't seem right to totally overlook a legitimate contender like Hendricks. He is the definition of the word contender right now. And with the way they just gave a title shot to Sonnen, I think it would look a lot better if the UFC stuck with the blueprint on this one and gave Hendricks what he deserves.

Hendricks has every right to be pissed and I have no problems with him voicing it. He doesn't want to talk shit, so he's making sure that he is being heard loud and clear. That is, he's getting his opinion out there as much as possible.

And Fedorlei. Not every fight is a barn burner, which I know I don't have to tell you. But for me personally, I enjoyed those fights Hendricks had with Kos, Pierce and Story. They showed he's got a lot of tenacity. They were pretty back and forth and he always came out swinging. He showed a lot of grit and toughness in those fights, which proves to me he's got no quit in him. I'd love to see him take that attitude into the cage with him against GSP.

I think Big Rig is a true threat to GSP. If GSP handles him then so be it, but I think Hendricks is the much more challenging fight for GSP at this point, where as I just see GSP controlling Diaz for 5 round to another "exciting" UD.

I said this with Sonnen Jones make it a fight for a title shot not a unearned title shot period......
GSP is the one who asked for the fight otherwise he would have been fighting Silva or Hendricks. People speak about reputation but how many fans wouldn't tune in to see either fight?

Be mindful that the UFC also has a reputation of putting on fights than a good portion of their fan base wants to see. I don't see the shame or harm in catering to your target audience.

Hey you could be watching freek show fights like Fedor Vs Zulu.

'Pissed' Johny Hendricks blames a 'scared' Georges St. Pierre for calling out Nick Diaz - MMAmania.com

"Bigg Rigg" has always been a calm, cool, and collected guy, and has never been much of a trash talker, so, one can understand his aggravation as to why his title shot was taking away from him just because someone ‘talked' their way into a fight.

From his recent appearance on the "The MMA Hour:"

"I was worried about (Anderson) Silva, GSP fighting Silva. I didn't know I had to worry about someone in my own weight class. I was pissed GSP wanted this, you know what I mean? Who cares what they say about you, who cares what they say about anything and fight the number one contender. I did everything I could to put myself into that kind of position, and then just to get it revoked from me because GSP wants something else. I'm actually fighting to get my title shot while he's (Diaz) on suspension, then all of a sudden GSP throws his name in front of mine. I'm actually more mad at GSP. I'm not mad at anybody else but GSP for calling somebody else out. I think he is trying to stay away from me. What other reason is there, you know what I'm saying? I tried to analyze it and he says it because he (Diaz) talked trash. Who cares? That's the point of our sport and people do talk trash and its all fun and games, who cares what someone says over the internet or what they say to your face. You fight to prove you are worthy. I feel like I have proved that I can go with GSP and I should go with GSP and here he is keeping me out of that."
When it comes to the blame game, Hendricks says even though some people may be blaming the head honchos at Zuffa, he says the blame lies solely on the shoulder of St. Pierre:

"Yes it could be a little bit of the UFC's fault, but, I'm not going to blame them. Every time someone asks me, all I want to do is look across, see GSP, and punch him, that's all I can think about, is taking that belt, or getting a shot to take that belt from him. Even here today, I'm watching videos and I'm training to fight GSP. I'm not going to give up hope and I really truly believe that I am the number one contender and I should be fighting him and hopefully he comes to his senses."
When asked to say one thing to the 170-pound champion, Hendricks was as blunt as can be:

"Don't be scared, fight me pretty much, please. Please put me in that Octagon with you and if you believe you can win, that bad, and if you believe you can honestly win, fight me and prove it. If you prove it, then I am not going to sit here and say a word. I lost, if you're better than me, if you prove it, I'm going to say, 'You're a better fighter than me.' But, don't take it away from me by throwing somebody else in there."

Thats why I like brackets you win you move up you lose go down. Yes injuries change it up some, but not enough to justify a title shop for Nick at this time period

Johny Hendricks: Nick Diaz Has Had Two Chances to Fight GSP, I Only Want One

“If he’d have beat [Carlos] Condit, he would have been fighting GSP at that time and you’ve also got to think, Nick Diaz did have a chance to fight GSP a year and a half ago. He didn’t show up to his press conference,” Hendricks told the Sherdog Radio Network’s “Cheap Seats” show prior to White’s comments on Diaz likely getting the next shot. “He’s had two shots to get GSP. All I’m asking is for one. That’s all that I’m asking for, and the thing is, the more that [St. Pierre’s camp] is talking about these other people and not wanting to fight me, it’s just giving me more and more confidence.”

Diaz did miss a press conference in September 2011 and was pulled from a title shot against St. Pierre. He could have also earned a crack at the champion by beating Condit this past February, but he lost the bout via unanimous decision. After that loss he tested positive for marijuana metabolites, and the Nevada Athletic Commission suspended him for a year.

“If he gets to take it after a year layoff and a loss, then it is what it is,” Hendricks said of Diaz getting the opportunity to fight St. Pierre. “You know what I mean? Enough being said, right? Here I’ve been in the last year, I’ve fought three guys in the top five and I’ve beat them all.”

Diaz has been an outspoken critic of St. Pierre, who in return hasn’t hid his dislike for the potential challenger. Hendricks doesn’t think that alone warrants a title fight, though.

“I can be the first one that can beat GSP,” he said. “I don’t think you have to sit there and talk trash. I don’t think I should have to. That’s why I like this sport, is that it’s not about who can talk the most trash. It’s how good your performances are, right? That’s what I really do like about this sport. You’re only as good as your last fight, and nothing else matters. Of course you do have to ask for the fights, and that’s what I’ve been doing. I’ve been asking since Josh Koscheck. I want a shot at GSP. Nothing else matters but that right there because he has the belt.”

If Hendricks gets passed over for Diaz, he seems willing to wait for the following title shot rather than fight again in the meantime.

“You can only hope for it, and there’s only so much that I can do to get a title shot,” Hendricks said. “I don’t want to be one of those people that has to be a jerk or whatever to somebody to get it. If they bypass me, guess what? I can wait. I got better in three months. I felt like I have improved a little bit on my striking and I improved a lot on my jiu-jitsu just in three months. If I have more time to wait, then guess what? I’m going to try to get that much better.”

Dolce said Hendricks was incredibly sick going into that Koscheck fight so that has been answered if you believe that. Hendricks is looking way better as of late as well btw.

Look Jeff, a win is a win. He won two of those 3 fights. They coulda, woulda, shoulda, but at the end of the day HE won those fights. It makes no difference which way they could of gone because they didn't go that way.

There is no more legitmate #1 contender in any weight class right now more than Hendricks.

Hendricks has earned his shot Diaz has not, noe has anyone else in the div. GSP can talk all day long but bottomline Dana/fertita need to put their collective feet down and make JH/GSP happen. And hopefully Rory Mac aka mini GSP on the same card :=)

Edit: Oh and piss on you beard haters! That shit is badass!!!
