oh man. this is pretty good discussion.

i'd like to know how thing would have turned out if pride and ufc had a more stable relationship. if they were able to work out supplying each other with fighters.

    No he didn't!

Rogers missed almost everything he threw on the ground. Fedor may of taken 2-3 shots before almost hitting that belly down armbar.

this is focusing more on bad calls, controversial split decisions, and business choices outside the ring. if hamill had rightfully beaten bisping, how would it have changed their respective careers? that type of thing.

    5. What if Frank Mir never got into that motorcycle accident? Does he beat a prime Arlovski & Couture? Does he become the marketable HW champ the UFC was looking for for so long?
at the time, i would have taken him over arlovski, but not couture. couture could have gameplanned around it, and mir's striking wasn't as dangerous at the time. he sure as shit wouldn't have lost to pei de pano though...

    6. What if Cro Cop had an easier opponent than Gonzaga? Nobody thought Gabe stood a chance. He was supposed to be just another highlight reel KO for Mirko and was probably picked fairly randomly. Could Cro Cop have beaten Couture? Would his career have been different had he avoided that brutal head kick?
at the time, nobody saw gonzaga beating cro cop, and nobody saw couture making it past sylvia. the HW title would have been a standup war between cro cop and sylvia, hopefully with a highlight reel knockout from cro cop as his coming out party. instead, we got couture in arguably two of his best performances. it's questionable as to if couture could have beaten cro cop, but this is the time that couture took off on his legal sabbatical. if cro cop had won the title, who would he have been defending against all that time? carwin, JDS, and velasquez weren't in title contention yet, and i think even lesnar wasn't there.

    1. What if Tito was 100%? He'd still be champ!

    2. I scored Griffin-Rampage as a draw. I had Rampage winning rounds 1, 3, & 4 with Griffin taking round 2 (10-8) & round 5. If Page doesn't lose that decision does he still go on the batshit crazy monster truck joyride that sent his career into a downward spiral? Does anyone doubt he would've beaten Forrest in a rematch? Would we have gotten an in-shape Page against Rashad later that year or early the next?

    3. If Penn got the decision against Edgar then I think they would've had a rematch shortly down the road which Edgar would've won. They would've probably had a trilogy though & who knows what happens in a 3rd fight. Probably Edgar, but BJ started to figure things out by the end of their rematch (mainly that he should've been grappling more).

    4. As for the hypothetical Fedor-Brock matchup, I think it's kind of odd how so many just dismiss Lesnar altogether. Sure against Overeem he looked awful, but Fedor isn't Overeem, and Brock had already decided to retire at that point. Lesnar took a ton of damage against Carwin & was successfully able to cover up. Everyone forgets but Brock did score a takedown against Cain.

At that point in Fedor's career he wasn't what he used to be. Against Bret Rogers of all people he took a lot of damage on the ground. Think what you will about Lesnar, but you have to admit he has far superior ground & pound to Rogers. Bigfoot unleashed holy hell on Fedor & Lesnar was capable of doing something similar.

Brock had a great chin in terms of being able to absorb punches, he just didn't react to them well. Whenever he'd get hit he'd go for a desperate takedown. Against giants like Overeem & solid wrestlers like Cain & Carwin that didn't work out to well. But against the far smaller Fedor? He probably could've taken him down.

If someone has done this one then please forgive me...but

What if Fedor had not followed Werdum to the ground. I think the fight would have have probably ended in Fedor Tko'ing him. They would have never had a Grand Prix. They would have probably made Josh Barnett vs Fedor while waiting to set up the Overeem fight. At this time the UFC might have still swooped in to buy them, and we see Fedor in the UFC. Or the Reem fight and Fedor would have happened.

In this alternate timeline I would have broken my TV because I thought hendo won easily (easily in the sense that I had Hendo winning 3 rounds at least, not in the sense that he kicked Shogun's ass (although he did kick shogun's ass, but Shogun kinda kicked Hendo's ass too)).

    Interesting.

I'll go the other way with Brock Lesnar's career:

What would have happened if he had lost to Randy Couture? Hell, what would have happened to Couture's career had he beaten Brock?

Figure Brock would have probably fought Big Nog next, since he lost to Frank Mir in the other bracket of that little mini HW tournament.

And obviously Randy vs Frank Mir to unify the titles.
