| Matt Hughes is better than GSP
To everyone with bad long term memory or anyone who hasn't seen a lot of Hughes' fights. Matt is better than Georges.
I am a fan of both fighters, and I rely on evidence for facts not opinions. So I feel it necessary to point this out to all the people caught up in being Hughes haters or GSP "nut hugers". Hughes is the most dominant UFC champion. And while Georges sometimes looks to display the ability to possibly rival Matt's legacy, he needs to do a hell of a lot more if he wants to fill those shoes.

There is a highlight reel kick to the dome that says otherwise.
Hughes has a better legacy than GSP. And if time stopped today, he would be remembered as a more accomplished, and possible greater, fighter than GSP.
But that doesn't mean he is actually a better fighter today. Or on December 29th.

Is anyone actually arguing that Hughes doesn't have the better legacy?, that doesn't mean GSP isn't a better fighter or he can't surpass Hughes, strange thread.

Obviously this rubber match will stand for a lot in this argument, and IMO we're going to see a very similar TKO-style stoppage just like in the second fight, but Hughes is NOT better than GSP IMO. Yes, he has more WW title defenses than anyone else in the game, and he has a lot more fights than Georges, but look at the difference in the level of competition between then and now... Georges has not only faced tougher opponents than Hughes- some of them the same like Penn and Sherk and Trigg- but he has stopped most of his opponents. The level of competition just wasn't nearly as deep when Hughes was champ... I mean, seriously, weren't two of his defenses against Trigg? Big deal... oh wait he beat Carlos Newton twice... big deal again, and he beat BJ once and looked terrible in the fight and lost to BJ before that... no, my friend, GSP is the real deal, and he will prove it once again on December 29th.
Oh, I forgot to mention his epic title defense against the aging, out of shape Royce Gracie... I bet GSP couldn't beat him... sarcasm.

LOL what a stupid, pointless, and utterly contrived thread. So you took it was time to create this little thread to start a flame war with members of TMMHNH (the moronic matt hughes nut huggery) and the GSP heads out there. I think we are all familiar with Matt Hughes' past achievements. Second, I would happily argue that about 98 percent of all users in this forum has seen both GSP v Hughes fights, so what good does this thread do? What can someone possibly learn about this super matchup from reading this thread? IMO absolutely nothing at all.
but i would suffice to say that Matt Hughes has actually been doing progressively worse his past several fights. i mean the last truly dominant fight i watched matt hughes in was in his victory against an elder Royce Gracie. And Wow that was a shocker. Even when he beat Georges the first time i felt Georges was owning hughes until that takedown....

Yeah I think this next fight really helps determine who's the better fighter but we already know who has the better legacy.
Gogoplata I've never seen anyone with a Phish avatar get so mad all the time.

GSP just hasnt been around as long as hughes. When GSP's time has come he will be known as one of the greatest welterweights of all time

Gogoplata I've never seen anyone with a Phish avatar get so mad all the time. | Yeah sorry about being a grouchy crab apple these days, but all my classes are coming to a head in my final semester of college so Iam a bit bent. Some fucking asshole at the bookstore sold me the wrong edition of my math book so half my assignments this semester were graded poorly. So start a stupid thread> Feel the hippie wrath ;0)
