| What's the most important quality in a fighter & why?
What makes up a perfect fighter in your opinion and is there anyone out there right now that comes closest to your definition of it?
I think good cardio is paramount followed by being well rounded. I;ve seen great BJJ guys get knocked out by power, big guys get subbed by wrestlers and wrestlers get mauled by Thia fighters. Being well rounded to some degree and have some ability to adapt is major key to success.
Right now, I see Anderson Silva being one of the most well rounded fighters in the game. His striking is good, his clinch is death and he can sub you on the ground as well too.

Honestly, yeah being well rounded is good, cardio is good, but what a fighter needs to be top level is heart/desire. There are a number of guys out there that have amazing skill sets (Travis Lutter, Vitor Belfort) but when push came to shove in there tougher matchups they caved. You can have all the skills in the world but when you're in that cage, on your back, taking hammer fists to the face are you gonna be able to push through it? And I can think of some other fighters that they really dont have the greatest skills (Chris Leben) but they give it their all and can take damage other people cant (or wont) and put on incredibly exciting fights that get them brought back for more fights.

All I need to like a fighter is to see them showing RESPECT, they can talk all the shit they want to hype up fights as long as when the time comes they show respect to their opponents and the sport.
A perfect example of this is Elvis Sinosic, he's not the greastest fighter in the world and was used by the UFC to "pad" Bispings record. After that fight (TKO) Sinosic is sitting on the stool obviously disapointed and getting medical attention and they begin the whole "This fight was stopped due to..........." on the mic. Elvis jumps to his feet and rushes over to the ref to get his arm held while the RAISE BISPING'S. It was a classy move and I will forever cheer for Elvis for the rest of his career!

the ability to learn and be trainable. i think this is most important in a truly great fighter.
if you look at guys like tito, ken shamrock, etc.... at one point they were some of the best but never adapted (imo) and weren't humble enough to go train with different camps. this mentality will hinder even the greatest of athletes. randleman would be another example.

Cardio and a great chin. Might not win you the judge's scorecard but at least you kept fighting the opponent.

Heart, without a doubt. You can be extremely skilled and talented but if you don't have the heart to win you'll never get anywhere.
