UFC 79 Countdown on MTV2
 

When did MTV start doing UFC stuff?

This event is the first. Viacom owns Spike, MTV, VH1, comedy central and a few others.

For anyone with MTV2,The UFC 79 countdown is over,but True Life: Im a Muay Thai fighter with Kit Cope is on,and is looking pretty interesting.

Also Im pretty sure this was a one time thing for MTV2 broadcasting UFC stuff.

MMA is the cool thing at the moment so it's no big shock that MTV would want to test the waters of it. After all MTV used to air WWE wrestling during the hay-day of the 1990's (and dropped it after it became uncool).
