[Steel]

Hi Everyone,

This is where all new members start their journey at this site and there is a sticky that will keep you in touch with all the rules & regulations we require you to abide by as an active community member.

Many of you are here because you googled us..or maybe you've been to other forums and realize that it was like the Wild West and you wanted something a little more mature.

This is a private site, meaning the owners of the site pick and choose how the site is run and what content they expect from it. In an effort to seperate ourselves from other sites, we've made it a point to try to be proactive rather than reactive, which means we like to avoid trouble rather than have to focus on fixing it.

Some of you feel it's too strict, while others prefer the fact we are making a more suitable environment for fans where a community can interact in a mature manner.

There is a cost to how to you run any site...allowing threads titled "Who's the biggest arsehole in the UFC" opens Pandora's Box and may turn off the part of our community that wants to avoid that type of poster. In the same token, issuing warnings and enforcing rules to mold the type of community we prefer for the betterment of the site may also turn people away that feel it is too strict.

Either way, it's your choice as a member to make as to whether you can conform to the policies set by the site or if maybe it's just not for you. Opinions are great....just respect those around you in expressing them in such a way that does not set a bad example or standard for others.

I read what you said steel, and my thought on it are that this website is becoming like a video game server, where rules are set on each server, with each server you go to within that game being run very differently. This is the web and people pay good money to have a connection to the web, so if you decide to ban as if you are on a video game server you definitely run into some conflicts.

The rules are set across the board. How are rules different on different "servers" here?

Also you paying for Internet is not a responsibility of this website. This website is here to provide an intelligent mature discussion forum about MMA and for MMA fans. When people interfer with that we have no choice but to remove them.

I hate the whining about you guys implamenting rules. People saying its not fair, well it isn't a damn circus either, and thats what there trying to prevent. I was personally myself made an inmate not to long ago and I pleaded my case and actually had it removed, so its not like the MODS are a bunch of dictators or something there just doing there job, I do not find them to show favortism, they treat all equally and thats what there trying to convay is that we are all equals in here, so unless your a problem on here I am sure there not going to pay attention to you, and I think there pretty easy going they will generally give a warning shot before realeasing there arsenal. SO people just need to chill and not sweat the small stuff, if you don't break the rules you wont even know there there.

Damien makes a good point. If you feel that your infraction/punishment/etc is unfair Pm one of us and we will pass it along to the mod/admin that did it (It is rare for one of us to go over the other one's head). I know that I have personally reversed decisions after a person has explained their point further.

I just don't see how the rules here are so terrible. Just act in a mature respectful civilized manner and you will be OK. I am also one of the guys around here that got my butt tossed into the doghouse for letting my temper get the best of me...for which I was eventually forgiven and it has never been held over my head by anyone since. And any other time that my "humor" has gotten close to stepping over the line - I got a quick PM asking me to dial it back a bit, myself and that staff member discussed it, and I felt like we communicated well and it was resolved in a win/win situation for us both. No threats, no ass chewing, no disrespect. Pretty impressive IMHO.

Having owned and adminned a few sites myself of various types...I sure as hell can appreciate the hard work and dedicated professionalism that has been invested here. And if you spend a few minutes checking out the other MMA fan forums around - you will see that most don't come anywhere close to being run as user-friendly and well maintained as this one.

Try to remember that even if you do pay big bucks for internet access, membership to any privately owned and operated site is a privilege - not a right. And setting up a site with the credibility and status of this one is not cheap, not easy, and takes a staff that has a lot of dedication to the fans and MMA both.

But hey... if you wanna try to buy your own domain, pay for your own hosting, pay for your format, design your own layout, and then go through the tedious thankless task of setting it all up and advertising/promoting it to death untill you recruit enough members to make it all worthwhile - by all means knock yourself out. Then you can have whatever set of rules you want.
