|  Why all of the haters for Tim Sylvia?
I was just wondering why it seems that there are not many Tim Sylvia fans. I will agree that some of his fights were boring, but I was wondering if he had done or said something(s) in the past to receive so much distaste. I have heard some coments about wearing his belt to the grocery store or something, but that seems like a silly thing to do rather than something offensive.

Well, I would like to speak for everyone... but I'll only speak for myself this time.
First time I even heard of Tim Sylvia was from a buddy who watched the UFC back when I was still "fresh" to MMA, so I checked some of his fights out and they were really, really boring. Also I didn't really like his style of fighting. Then all of these pics of him wearing his belt everywhere (and yes, I really do mean everywhere) started surfacing, which just seemed... a bit strange. But all of that just adds up to an awkward and weird fighter and nothing that really deserves dislike. Then I found out that he'd been busted for roids.
Then came all of the title defenses where he did just enough to win and put on some very lackluster performances. Then he lost to Randy and immediatley brough up an old back injury that had been bothering him for years and stated that he was finally fixing it and coming back at 100%. Which would be the Vera fight... and we all saw how impressive he looked in that high energy, high pace fight...
Then just to top it all off he starts bad-mouthing Hughes and Fedor in interviews.
IMHO he's a douchebag, and I have my reasons for thinking so.

Especially recently Tim has a tendency to fight very safe very boring fights where he utilizes his size to jab at his opponent and win a long decision while not attempting at all to actually damage or stop his opponent.
Also he says dumb shit from time to time calling out fighters he knows damn well he can't fight. He wore his belt EVERYWHERE when he was champ and he is a big goofy looking guy with very little charisma so fans are inclined to not like him.

i dont really hate him,i hate watching him fight,as of late his fights are really boring and hard to sit through.but on the plus side when his fights come up it is a good time for a bathroom or beer break since you wont be missing much while your gone

I agree I wouldn't say I hate him inparticularly, I just dilike his fighting style if I wanted to watch a Sloth fight I would go to the jungle. I know its him and thats his style I just do not care for it, he is not a good face for the heavyweight division. Yah he wins, but who cares. When he loses there are a million excuses. Plus it is one thing to be proud of being a champion, but come on reserve wearing the belt for UFC events so you don't look like some UberChampion

When Sylvia first came into the UFC I thought he was the shit. He was stopping everybody he fought and was good to watch. Hell, I remember the first two Arlovski fights had me foaming at the mouth for the 3rd fight(which we all remember and love  ). Ever since then he is boring as hell, he doesn't even really try for KO's - Arlovski 3, Monson, Vera - all fights Tim could have won in more convincing fashion. IMO he would get a lot more respect if he went back to the old Tim - Ricco, Teligman, Simms, etc...
Oh yeah, and everything about mopeds/belts/roids.
