| Tim Sylvia and Steroids
It seems like they spoon fed big Timmy title shots.
From the UFC's list of previous title holders: Quote:
UFC 44, September 26, 2003 Sylvia defeats Gan McGee, then loses his title after testing positive for steroids in the post-fight test.
UFC 48, June 19, 2004 Frank Mir defeats Tim Sylvia for the vacant heavyweight title
UFC 51, February 5, 2005 Andrei Arlovski defeats Tim Sylvia for interim title championship. Heavyweight title holder Frank Mir was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident and unable to defend his title.
| They vacated the title because Timmy tested positive- then they let him fight for the title right away? That doesn't sound like much of a punishment to me. Then after he loses it, they give him YET ANOTHER title shot? That's three try in a row. I was quite surprised when I saw this.

Yeah the heavyweight division was so thin at the time that they had to ahve Sylvia keep fighting for the title because him,
Mir, and AA were the only guys in the division and Mir got into a motorcycle accident. Otherwise they would have had to pull guys out fo the crowd for a title shot or something.

Yeah, Sylvia did get some unfair treatment there with all the immediate title shots, and I see why with how thin the HW division was at the time. Normally, I would say big Tim is a boring fighter, but I just can't anymore after seeing him at least attempting to finish off Nog. IMO Sylvia would have one if he did his usual left jab, and hold opponent against the cage or LnP, but thank the Lord sweet baby Jesus he didn't!!!

As for his recent title shot, there was no one worthy of fighting Nog for the interim belt but Sylvia and Arlovski (ironically, again) and AA was going through contract shit... by process of elimination, Sylvia got the title shot.
And I mean, Sherk is getting the same deal too.

Sherk was stripped at the title was put up for grabs between Penn and Stevenson. In Sylvia's case, he was stripped, then put right back into contention with the toss-up for the vacant title. Giving Sherk the shot against Penn is ok, especially since it's going to make for good television. With the war of words between the two, how could the UFC say no?
