Default Another UFC Counter Showing

As stated in the MMAnews mainpage, UFC is airing UFC84 on Spike on 7/26. This is official on UFC.com which also is the same date as EliteXC's Lawler/Smith 2 show.

First they counter Affliction's 7/19 event which just was a "coincedence" and now EliteXC's 7/26 show with a PPV replay.

This indicates to me that UFC is getting concerned of the competition....

While I am sure some will grant this as a good business move, although IMO this shows weakness....

this was posted already, but I don't think they are worried. There is not a promotion out there that will overtake UFC at least not in the next 20 years. UFC is going global and is the #1 org.

The second closest is EXC and they have shit for depth at any weightclass.Even Affliction is gonna blow it's load early they won't recoup their money.Dream is great, but there is hardly anyone here watching. The UFC has the top names in the sport excluding a few here and there.

The average fan won't watch Dream, strikeforce, cage rage,Affliction,or even EXC.They are just crushing the competition. They are doing it to just help drive the final nail in the coffin.

My bad, didn't see it anywhere other than the main page.

You have a valid point to a certain extent. I agree with you about another org not catching UFC for a while, but 20 years?

The biggest competition they have right now is EliteXC, but Affliction is a threat and they know it. They even put together a live event on Spike to counter.

Yeah, I am on Affliction's bandwagon, but only because of their current roster and Trump backup. They WILL cross-promote which inevitably will attract more fighters, and I believe even GSP is rumored to make the jump....

The UFC will continue to show re-runs or free shows on Spike concurrently with other events, but slowly the average fans will notice the current UFC stars jumping ship to other orgs.

i feel affliction will be more of a threat than elite.elite has been around awhile and hasnt been a threat really as of yet.affliction has the fighters to be a threat.but it will be awhile before anyone takes the spot from the ufc
