| fighters on the bubble
theres a good number of fighters in the UFC that arent considered top contenders, but thanks to a highlight reel knockout or submission the UFC keeps them around
some examples i can think of:
James Irvin
Josh Burkman
Marvin Eastman
HUston Alexander
Im sure theres more so the question is
1- who else can you think of that fits the criteria?
2- do these fighters belong in the UFC or should they be cut to make room for newcomers who can climb the ranks?

Irvin will probably stick around.....and Houston has a fight in Nebraska in a few months. Burkman kinda seems like a gatekeeper for competition at WW. Marvin doesn't generate alot of excitement.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Dana drop Jake O'Brien again since he just lost over the weekend.

James Irvin should be gone already. I could care less about his KO of Alexander or Martin. The guys not a UFC caliber fighter and how many times can you catch lightning in a bottle.
Burkman isn't likely going anywhere. Sure he just lost, but was also given a fight of the night bonus so the loss could have been as good as a win.
There are far too many lower tiered guys on the bubble so I'll just give some notables that could be on the bubble. War Machine - With his behavior, outlandish remarks, and getting choked out in the 1st round, War Machine may be more hype than substance. Stephan Bonnar - With a steroid suspension and injuries and all but fading from the public eye, not to mention the stacked LHW division and the soon to be influx of LHW talent from the upcoming TUF, Bonnar may become expendable. Chris Leben - If Leben loses to Bisping, that pushes him to 3-5 in his last 8 fights and with his legal trouble, will he be worth the risk. Nate Diaz - This is just a theory of mine and it probably holds no real substance. Nate was front and center of the Elite controversy and only helped the competition by getting into a brawl on national television . . . in another organization. You can't tell me the UFC was happy about that. If he slips up, it's not unfathomable that they could use a loss as an excuse.

Look at Lutter, he lost to the #1 and #2 MW in the UFC and had both in bad shape in their fights and he still got cut.
Nate hasn't done himself any favors expressing publicly his distaste for the quality of fights and being front and center of a brawl on a competitor's show. I'm not saying he's going to get cut, but if he loses, I could definitely see him on the bubble.
Vera should also be on the bubble.
