Default Brock Lesnar

It seemed to me, there are only two possibilities:

1. He did not train anything regarding rear naked chokes
2. He is physically unable to choke someone due to his range of motion

I am thinking its 2 because he made absolutely no attempts. Thoughts?

okay, so i've been thinking about this a lot... the man has been training at mma for two years, and has been training a HUGE amount of jits since his loss to mir. furthermore, i don't know about any of you, but the RNC was the first submission i learned when i began training. this is the only thing i can come up with...

1. there is absolutely no way he didn't know what to do when taking someone's back... and absolutely no way that he didn't see the choke opportunities. hell, he even threw an arm around heath's neck a couple times, but never committed to it.

2. while his forearms are the size of tito's fuckin' head (LOL!!!1!11!!!), he still could have gotten them underneith heath's chin to complete the choke.

the only possible reason for all of this that i can think of is that brock's wrestling took over, and he was playing it VERY safe after the mir fight, and you can't really blame him. once he took the back and began to smother heath, he knew there was no way he was getting out, and could easily wear him down. i guess the reason he didn't go for the choke was because he knew that heath would have it scouted and be waiting for it for the reversal, and committing to a submission move would possibly sacrifice his position. i guess even putting the hooks in was too much of a risk. i guess o.O

alright... that's all

This doesn't give away anything at all, its simply a technique question

I'm not sure why. However if I were Brock I would not attempt submissions EVER!. His primary focus should be maintaining and improving position, and sub defense along with improving his striking.

I agree with Bas when he said if Brock just takes them down and passes to side control he is virtually unbeatable. I don't think there is a HW out there who can keep Brock from taking them down.

There are only about 5 HW fighters I think have a chance in hell of beating him, Fedor, Barnett, Nog, Verdum and Mir. And the only way I see those guys beating him are leg locks or chokes. I don't think anyone can defend his take downs, and I don't think anybody could take him down or keep him down if they did.

And I am not a WWF nut hugger, I hate wrestling. But that dude has scary potential.

If Brock's focus was to improve position, the logical step to taking an opponent's back would be to.... what?

Most fighters would put there hooks in and try to flatten them out in a RNC. But most fighters aren't 265lb. NCAA national champion wrestlers built like a silverback gorilla. How many times have we seen guys wind up in the opponents guard after a RNC attempt on them?

If I were Brock I wouldn't risk this. I would just beat on their kidneys with knees, elbows and hands until they pull their head out of the sand and then pound them out. There isn't a HW out there that poses much threat at getting out from underneath him, unless he gives them an opening.

If he does that there is almost zero chance he'll get submitted or lose position. JMO
