| Jeff Monson?
Really enjoy and appreciate this guy's skill and talent and wonder why he hasn't been on a big show in a while. I know he jumped to PRIDE to try and work against Fedor, but since his loss to Tim, he's only really had a challenge in his fight with Barnett.
I mean Kerr and next Ricco? They're not even in the same league as Monson and he is somebody who I think would make for a good foe for top heavyweights in UFC or Affliction or DREAM. Wiuff vs Monson would be cool. Maybe Rothwell or Nelson?
Just wish he'd come back to the big show. Really think he has a tonne of talent and potential. Mir/Monson or Monson/Couture or Monson/Gonzaga would be wicked cool to watch.
Thoughts?

He slipped up against Rizzo and was outclassed by Barnett, he needs to work his way up and sign with one of the big time orgs. He is an interesting fighter to watch when he isn't fighting Timmy, I don't know what ever happened to his fight with Fedor

if he looks good in his next couple fights i'd be all for him stepping up to affliction. if not then i suggest he re-center himself.

MONSONBYCHOKE said he emailed jeff's wife on her myspace and she supposedly said that after he fights ricco he will he will have a fight in January for UFC, so hopefully thats true, and with the way the heavyweight division is it could be very true. His first fight prolly would be cain velasquez imo.

that would be so so sweet to see him back since I believe he's a truly talented and intelligent fighter and could have some interesting matchups against Mir, Nog, Herring, Kongo, heck even Randy would be a really cool fight. I hope that's true, because I think he'll add some grit to the divison.

just to clarifiy and to make complete,, I spoke with Jeff's girlfriend and she told me that he will be fighting Ricco on dec 13th. Also on that card will be Lashley's MMA debut. After that Monson is suppose to sign a contract with the UFC for a PPV in January. I think if he does he will be fighting Werdum. Werdum is on track for 3 more fights in the UFC and they by no means can afford to loosed him. Odd this thread was created and i just happen to pop in here today.. lol...... but hope this gives better insight to the situation.

Hey guys,
I'm new to the forums as far as posting goes but I actually read the forums every day. So hopefully my responses will matter more than my post count. Funny thing is, I'm re-watching UFC 65 and it's Monson vs Sylvia. Anyways, I have always been a fan of Monson and would love to see him back in the UFC. The thing with Monson is, he's a character. He would inject some life into the HW division that is hurting right now. Problem is his age. He's 37 and is pretty bulky. That to me would suggest he isn't near as fast with his shoots/ takedowns as we once was. Time will tell though. He's a smart guy and fun to watch.
