| WWE issues statement regarding Brock's win WWE: Inside WWE > News > Brock Lesnar: first man to hold both WWE and UFC titles Quote:
LAS VEGAS - In a stunning upset, Brock Lesnar became the first man to capture both the WWE Championship and the UFC Heavyweight Championship when he defeated UFC fan favorite Randy "The Natural" Couture on Saturday night in Sin City.
Lesnar, dubbed "The Next Big Thing" upon his arrival in WWE, earned the moniker and his first WWE Championship in 2002 after besting The Rock at SummerSlam. Thanks in large part to the backing of the WWE Universe, the former college wrestling phenomenon went on to regain the title twice, both times against Kurt Angle, once at WrestleMania in 2003 and then six months later on SmackDown.
For Lesnar, the road to UFC gold proved surprisingly short. Within roughly six months, the former WWE Superstar climbed to the top of the ultimate fighting heap, capping his ascent with the upset victory over Couture.
Critics have noted that many of the fights on the UFC pay-per-view ended in the first round, leaving UFC producers scrambling to fill the three-hour event with content. The dearth of hearty competition left many viewers to watch less prestigious under-card fights and only served to bolster claims that UFC pay-per-view events can often be a "crap shoot" in regards to filling the full three hours.
For his part, Lesnar took the encouragment of the WWE Universe and the hard lessons forged during his fiery time at WWE and showed UFC and the world why he is not only a man of mettle but also a former three-time WWE Champion.
| Absolutely amazing...that takes some real balls to issue a statement like that claiming some credit in Lesnar winning a title in a legitimate sport.
The whole part about the card being a 'crap shoot' is pretty funny too since those "less prestigious" undercard fights were just as good as the main eventers.

Why does this take balls? the WWE is a fantasy sport to begin with. Nothing in their entire company is real. So why not? nobody thinks it's real anyway. I think mostly it's just kids loving that stuff now isn't it?
Doesn't surprise me about the crap shoot thing either. I think the ufc does a great job with it's PPV structure. having the undercard fights to fall back on are a GREAT way to fill time. Everyone would love to see all the fights like that. But of course we also don't want a bunch of 20 second fights. I also think that intermission before the main event is a buffer incase the fights went long and they were short on time. They could cut that part and bring the fight in early to catch up. Since they can't go long on a ppv.
The WWE is scripted so filling a PPV slot is as easy as making sure a dance number takes a certain amount of time.
They're just throwing little shots that are stupid

Who are these supposed critics that don't like getting to see EVERY fight on a card, as well as some of the most spectacular submissions and KO's of the year! I'm not the type of fan that REQUIRES a fight to end early to think that it is entertaining; many great fights have gone to decision. However, you really can't argue with a full card of finishes.

Dear WWE,
You are a fucking joke, your wrestlers are the most ridiculous clowns I've ever seen, with their BULLSHIT signature finishing moves, GIVE ME A FUCKING break! You are a company where the outcome of every single fucking bout has been decided before the fight begins, Nearly every one of your sack of shit athletes is on steroids, they all die before the age of 40, from all kinds of health issues from the abuse, TAKE YOUR BULL SHIT some place else, 3 time WWE Champion? are you fucking kidding me? YOU'RE A MORONIC scripted sport! SO GO FUCK OFF!!!

eh cant really blame them for using Brock winning a title as a marketing tool.Really the ONLY reason Brock got pushed like he did was because he was a former draw with the WWE.

**CNN BREAKING NEWS: WWE IS SCRIPTED!!
the anti wwe rants need to stop. everyone knows it's scripted and it is not to be considered a sport....yet we still get people on this board bashing them. it does not show any sense of intelligence whatsoever. by all means, if you have a point with any sort of substance, post away.
show vince and wwe some respect because without them, ufc might not exist today. they brought in some of the founding ufc fighters, such as tank, shamrock, the beast, and made them household names. vince has always supported mma, and at one point almost bought pride. i'll go as far as saying most of the ufc fighters were wwe fans (based on their age bracket). i think it it's safe to say most of the trash talking has been heavily influenced by wwe. tito ortiz might as well be a wwe character...and good for him because he has been one of the most successful fighters and businessmen in mma history.
so what if they comment on brock...vince made him the star that he is today. vince has run one of the most successful companies in the world over the past 10 years. why wouldn't he get a chance to get some advertising and publicity at brock/ufc's expense. if you ask me, vince and dana have a mutual respect so why do certain people continue to bash wwe?
please, stop taking yourselves so seriously and accept wwe for what it is.
