| Condit vs. Kampmann
Maybe it's because it's sandwiched between so many other fights, but I haven't seen much about the Condit/Kampmann battle, and I actually think that it will have more import for the title picture than two of the upcoming/recently passed numbered UFC events (Sanchez/Stevenson and Silva/Franklin). With Kos, Fitch, and Hughes out of the title picture as long as GSP is champ, and Serra's future shot dependent on an (I would argue) very unlikely win over Hughes, there really aren't that many Welterweight contenders out there, particularly if GSP beats Alves. By my count, there are only four fighters who have a shot at being considered top tier welterweights who have not been cannabalized by the Welterweight division: Swick, Hardy, and the two fighters meeting at the next UFN. Condit was afterwall a very successful WEC champion, and Kampmann was in the thick of the MW title picture until he was overwhelmed by a much larger Marquardt. Given all this, isn't it possible that the winner of this fight could be one fight away from a WW title shot?
On a related note, I also think that Condit/Kampmann will be an excellent free fight, particularly for new fans. Both fighters are skilled on their feet and on the ground, and we should get to see quality action in every phase of the MMA game. I think fights like this, even more than great standing slugfests and slick, Maia-esque submissions, show new fans (caveat; like me) what it is that makes MMA the most exciting combat sport today. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else has thoughts about the fight, or if I've missed something/someone important.

I'm sure we'll start hyping it up after this weekend's card.
But yea, I am more excited about the March 18th fight night than UFC 96 or 97.
I love watching the young guns go at it.

I'm not sure if kampman should be able to get a title shot after winning this fight if he does. This is his first fight at WW and should he win that would be great for him to beat a guy like Condit but I think he should fight someone like Fitch or even Anthony Johnson. That would be a good step up for AJ. Anyway just my thought.

HOSS-Bork, you should spend more time brushing up on your MMA history, and less time complementing guys on how young their penises taste.

This is actually his 2nd fight at 170, but his first against a well known opponent. And I agree with you that Kampmann/Condit (particularly Kampmann) probably should have at least one more fight before a title match. I'm just having a hard time figuring out with whom. AJ is a good point, but he has not had a great signature win either. I'd do something like this.
AJ vs. Mike Swick/Dan Hardy (not sure what direction I'd go)
Condit vs. Kampmann
winners face off for a Late fall/early winter title shot. While I don't think any of these fighters are better than Fitch, GSP/Fitch II probably can't happen until GSP/Fitch I is a distant memory.

At UFC 93 he had a 2nd round TKO of the unheralded Alexandre Barros at 170.
