Default Question about Frank Shamrock

I was watching the Shamrock vs Diaz fight on YouTube when I noticed on one of the comment that it claimed Shamrock had two broken ribs going into the fight.

What I'm wondering is if this is true (there was no source so I am sceptical).

If it is true, why would a fighter be cleared to fight if he has such an injury? Wouldn't two broken ribs seriously undermine the breathing of a fighter and his gas tank?

I don't think that Frank would have won this fight after watching it, he got owned, but it would be absolutely stupid of him to put himself in this position.

If anyone knows, I'd appreciate some feedback. Cheers in advance.

I highly doubt they were broken; possibly bruised which would only be a problem if Diaz hit him there.. which he did.

Shamrock is a warrior and i doubt he would back out in any circumstance as long as he still had a choice.

I have no confirmed sources for his "injuries" though (which you asked for so apologies for responding without bringing what you asked for )

In his post-match interview Frank said he was having problems with his ribs and it was the shots to his side that took the juice out of him.

I very much doubt they were actually broken at the time of the fight, if at all. More likely that they had been cracked in the not so distant past and had recently healed or even more likely just badly bruised.
