| Ryan Bader says: “I can see myself beating Machida in two years” Quote:
“Ultimate Fighter” season eight light heavyweight winner, Ryan “Darth” Bader has said that given a little time and a lot of hard work, he believes he will be the man to dethrone 205 pound champion, Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida.
Speaking to MMAJunkie.com, Bader said:
“I can see myself maybe beating Machida in two years, but I need that time. If anybody's going to do it, it's going to be a wrestler. When I get that chance I want to be ready and be the best I can be, and that's not right now. I need a couple of years.”
“Nobody's been able to figure him out yet. I think he'll hold onto the belt for a little while, but I think people are maybe going to fight him a little differently. That's the key to beating Machida.”
Bader injured his left knee during his last fight, a three round decision win over veteran, Carmelo Marrero at UFC Fight Night 18 in April, an injury he doesn’t intend will keep him out for long.
“Yeah, it is frustrating to get hurt right when your career is taking off, but it is part of the game. I am looking to come back better than ever and move on from it. I'm able to concentrate on my stand-up – I'm kind of forced to – so that will be good in the long run.”
Bader has targeted a September return to the octagon, continuing the monumental assent up the most stacked division in the UFC.

Yeah don't think so. Could happen though he has really good wrestling so you never know(Rashad). At least we know he at least has a little power.

not gonna happen. and personally, i wouldn't go with a wrestler, but an aggressive standup guy with great kicks who will be able to cut lyoto's front leg out when he backs up.
just me though

I love Bader, I think he's a freak, a "grinder" and a genuine talent and has the tools and skill to EVENTUALLY be a very solid LHW, having potential to be a champion.
But, that will be too soon.
I say when he comes back, give him Jon Jones and see which cream rises.

I see Bader beating Machida...uhm... Never! Besides, in two years im sure Bader will have already developed "wrestlers syndrome" and will think he's a boxer (Sherk, Koscheck Hughes, Sonnen, etc.) I think the only two great wrestlers this is working for is Hamill and Velasquez. Oh well, good luck with that two year plan Bader! I'll be watching.
