| anyone else think a.silva is coasting?
anderson came to the ufc by storm and even though he beat some of my favorite fighters to watch with ease, you couldnt help but love to watch his fights.but the anderson silva that handled rich franklin ,with ease, and henderson with little trouble hasnt been the same in a while. seems like it was ever since we heard there was some contract issues. anyone else notice this?

More than anything I think Anderson is just bored. The only time I can ever really remember him being in any danger in the UFC is when he fought Lutter and Lutter had him on the ground, and even that was pretty brief. He's ran through everyone he's fought. Franklin twice, Marquart, Hendo, Lutter, he just makes things look easy. Him fighting Forrest coming up will be good, because Forrest won't be scared to take the fight to Anderson. Also, I hope Hendo gets a rematch with Anderson now, because I feel Hendos still the man to beat the Spider. To me, I think Andersons lost a little bit of his fire, and although he's always trained his ass off and has an amazing work ethic, he hasnt really been tested or in danger in a while.
Also, lets not forget his fights left on his UFC contract can be counted on 1 hand and he's been practically drewling over a boxing match with Roy Jones Jr. for quite some time now.

Ive said it before, and I will say it again.
Anderson fights at a level just above his opponent. When he fought Leben, Rich, Nate, he knew he needed to shut those guys down. To put pressure on them, and hand them striking they couldnt handle. When he fought Lutter, he went to the ground, and everyone thought he was getting handled but he turned it up,and ended reversing the roles. Anderson does exactly what he needs to do to win. No more, no less. If he were to fight an aggresive striker, you would see him KO the guy in the first round. His fight with Cote was dictated by Cote, he didnt put himself in danger, why should he. And with Thales, he fucking punched the guy in the thigh/knee area, that takes balls, skill and speed. He makes his opponents look like amatuers, and god bless him for it. It has been said, Brock Lesnar is the reason people move to 205. Anderson Silva is the reason to move to 205.

hes just bored cuz they keep giving him fights with fighters that dont really have the heart of a champion to go out there and fight. leites and cote both put on performances that were embarrassing to watch. leites in particular was very kalib starnes in resemblence. it never ceases to amaze me how these guys agree to fight anderson then never show up to fight. at least we wont worry bout forrest showing up to fight

def would like to see more fights against 205ers and start fighting the elites in the class...theGriffin fight should be crazy.... the Irvin fight was last memorable performance... Hendo and Belfort would still be fun to watch at middleweight though

I have to agree that Silva is coasting. He hasn't shown the killer instinct since his fight against Irvin. And even then Irvin was a subpar opponent with little to offer in terms of danger. Hopefully Forrest can entice some aggressiveness out of him again. Cote was putting up a fight until he went down to the knee injury and I would have liked to have seen the end of that fight. Leites was horrible.
Now that we have a gamer in Forrest up next will we see the destructive Silva again? I don't think so, he seems to intent on the safe play. But I really really hope I'm wrong.

| heres a challenge
silva has always had a very week takedown defence,so put gsp in there. i think silva could possibly ko him if he caught him,but i also think gsp can take him down at will and ground and pound the fight out of him?

He took everything anderson through...not likely, but he may have won in later rounds, I sure wouldnt call his performance ebarrassing

Everyone coming down on a silva... But what about GSP... I haven't seen him doing anything specially different from silva...
I just think silva made enough money to live a good life, now he's not interest in bashing fighters faces or crashing their dreams... I think he's just going with the flow...

People aren't swinging wildly at A Silva anymore and A Silva is too smart/disciplined to move out of his element and all out attack just so it gives fans something to cheer about.
UFC fighters have figured out how to avoid A Silva's greatest strength, they just don't have enough skill to win the fight so they spend 5 rounds avoiding him which then puts Anderson more on the defensive as well and causes a boring fight. The evolution of the sport has caused this, not him trying less.
