| RUMOR: A. Silva signed a contract to face RJJ Quote: UFC middleweight champion, Anderson “The Spider” Silva has revealed the blockbuster news that he has signed some sort of contract with boxing great, Roy Jones Jr. to fight in a professional boxing match when his MMA career is up.
Speaking to Fighters Only Magazine, Silva explained: Quote:
“It is undoubted that I will face Roy Jones. We have talked too much, have signed some contracts and we want to make it the sooner the better. It’s not for money or spotlight, it’s for my desire.”.
“I watch Roy Jones since he competed as an amateur and in the Olympic Games. I’m looking forward to this fight to put in the ring everything I know, to show my students in the future that I understand what I may say over this or that and don’t seem a pirate parrot.”
“Before that UFC is my focus. Dana treats me very well, as do all the staff of the organization. However I have to search what is better for myself.”
| Silva has four fights left on his current UFC deal, the first of which is early next month against former UFC light heavyweight champion, Forrest Griffin at UFC 101 in Philadelphia. |

im thinking maybe forcing him to fight machida when he has one fight left. this would do the same thing to him that it did to randy couture when he wanted to leave and fight fedor but they wanted him to fight noguira. with one fight left on his contract he would either have to fight machida or never be able to fight roy jones jr because he would still be under ufc contract

4 fights left on his contract, that's at least another year. Also doesn't Anderson still have to wait another year after his contract expires before he can negotiate for any promotion?

he gonna get sued by ufc for beach of contract!!! dana will never let this happen, or he will make him sit around for a year without a fight so he can run the contract as long as possible!!!

Yeah, I don't know the legalities involved with him signing another contract(s) with another fight promoter when he's currently under a long term contract already...I guess we'll find out with time.

UFC should just let it happen at this point. Roy ain't getting any younger!
I know it's not policy to co-promote but man, it's Roy!
I think it would be an awesome fight. Roy isn't quite as fast as he used to be and Anderson is a really great boxer! Youtube it or something, he has a match or two out there somewhere.
UFC could put the boxing match in the octagon lol. Roy don't care.

Anderson is really focused on this, to the point that I wonder sometimes if he cares more about this fight than the last 4 MMA fights on his UFC contract. I am a A. Silva fan, but I think he needs to focus solely on defending his belt at this point and time. Since the UFC is clearly not going to let him and RJJ box anytime soon, he should just focus on his legacy as one of the, if not THE, greatest UFC MW champion to date. RJJ is just a distraction until his UFC contract is up.
