Thumbs down Does anyone else think Tito Vs Coleman is a joke?

Following the much rumoured announcement that :

Quote:
Tito Ortiz will likely face Mark Coleman, Hopefully by years end
Im sorry but to me this is such a joke matchup- with all due respect to Coleman, at his age and recent performances this to me looks nothing but a tomato-can match for Tito's return.

My view is that despite Coleman's heroics in beating Bonner recently, he's performance against Rua and even in the Bonner fight showed that A) he's SLOW and his punching speed isnt in the same league as many UFC fighters. B) more importantly, despite to what Coleman may claim, he's gas tank is still very suspect at best.

There's no doubt that Tito is going to be in great shape comming into this fight- he's cardio from the fights i've seen of him has always been good/great so to me it just seems so unfair that Dana would put in a relatively young fighter who will be in great shape, a former champion with good stand up skills and brutal ground and pound versus an aged, slow but big hearted Coleman who despite being famous for his 'creation' of the ground and pound will be so slow and gassed that Tito will just destroy him.

To me it seems cruel. If Dana really wanted to have a good 'testing' for Tito's comeback to see where he stands why not put him up against some higher-level and younger fighters - hell even Bonner would make a good test despite his loss to Coleman, others that come to mind of the top of my head are: Henderson (i wish), Jon Jones, Bader, Hamil, O'brien, Soszynski

To me with the exception of hendo, all the other fighters are somewhere in the middle tiers of the LH rankings and in my mind would make far more fairer and interesting matchups then Coleman.

What are your thoughts?

Mark Coleman is not a joke. Tito is fighting a better wrestler coming off of a major layoff and serious back surgery. If he takes Mark Coleman lightly he will lose.

That being said with Tito's cardio, I don't see him getting worn out. Tito by decision

Well major back injury or not Tito has been Masturbating over how he feels no probs with his back and is better than ever so if hes so confident i think he should be placed against someone who isnt the oldest fighter competing in the ufc (he is older than Randy right? and lets face it Coleman is a far cry from Randy's ability even now at his age) I cant see this fight going any other way than Tito KO'ing him or some skin rippin' ground and pound elbows. Its going to be a Shamrock repeat.

No way is Coleman a joke. He showed he can still be competitive with the Bonner win. Tito is coming off a serious injury and Imo it's a fair match up. If he trains lightly or takes Coleman lightly he will lose. Coleman will match his wrestling ability if not have better wrestling. But Tito has the cardio advantage. I don't see Tito taking him lightly. I see Tito coming out to make a statement and he will. Tito by breaking Colemans face rd 1

Thats exactly why i think the fight stinks - Dana knows and wants Tito to make a statement so that Tito will regain some rep and add to his selling ability. I don't know man, he aint fooling me, if he wants to make a statement he could do it by fighting someone a bit more challenging. And i can see it now Dana will be hyping this match like "two of the most prominent ground and pound practitioners finally square off" ... ye right that would be a great match to see if Coleman was about 8 years younger.

I admire Coleman's heart and determination - if Coleman was to somehow gain cardio then i would say ok its an interesting match but i just see Titio dropping Coleman and then pounding him out while Coleman gasses trying to protect himself.

Coleman is not a joke per se, but he is nowhere near Tito's talent level and technical proficiancy. The pace Tito will push is excruciatingly brutal and he won't allow Coleman to brute him around akin to how Bonnar took it. Let's remember as well, that Tito himself's wrestling is sick and his takedown defense and subs are awesome too.

Coleman's an honest ta god grinder and really showed some intestines in the Bonnar bout, but seriously, if Tito takes this fight, it's merely to tune up for a bigger bout down the line.

I want Tito/Hammil!!!!!!!!!!!!

O.K..........
1) Yes, it is a fair match up, but Coleman is WELL past his prime IMO
2)Tito has such a history of selling great fights, but how exactly is this fight going to get the fans intersted in this fight other that a main event of a fight night, then who cares

So agree. What better way to hype a comeback then by a brutal ground demolition display to get some momentum for bigger bouts
