Houston was a can if anyone ever got one. They definitely tried to put him out there after he beat Forrest, and he cried about the opponent not being high ranking enough. Then he got KTFO'd. Ever since he's been win/lose, with both Wandy and Rampage exposing his chin. Its hard to justify him getting a title shot, but I'm sure he'll have a job for a long time.
Explain to me how his chin was exposed, please. Houston, Rampage, Wandy, Chuck are all extremely powerful punchers correct? But yet he took very good shots from Chuck and Rampage on though jaw and got through the fight. Everyone gets KOed from time to time. This whole exposed chin talk is just plain dumb to me just because he was KOed by two very hard punchers. I guess Randleman and Gonzaga exposed Crocops chin? Oh yeah and that no chin Rich Franklin, boy is he made out of glass *end sarcasm*. Babalu's another one of those bums, his chin was def. exposed by Mousasi and Liddell. Maybe I overexaggerated a bit but come on this is ridiculous talk and I'm not even a fan of Jardine's.

Someone said earlier best rematch for chuck would be jardine? over wandy? come on now, it was an entertaining fight but wandy vs chuck is def more legendary, even if the two are past their primes. it even makes more sense to have 2 fighters past their primes fight than to have one who is knocking on retirements door vs another who is at the peak of his career.

as far as the marketing machine is concerned, i do agree to an extent that jardine isnt being marketed as much as a Forrest Griffin, who IMO is less deserving of it than Jardine, but Jardine is getting solid exposure. He's got a unique look and fighting style which definitely helps his popularity and helps him stand out in the pack. But he clearly doesnt have the pedigre nor the following of Rampage, Wandy or Chuck so its not realistic to expect the marketing machine to just be all over him.

I dont care about the betting odds, Jardine gets knocked out in the first round.............save this post and we'll talk in a few days.

i totally agree... and on top of that IMO he's not a very exciting fighter to watch. He's down right awkward and typically doesn't finish fights in highlight reel fashion (the forrest fight not withstanding which was all forrest's own fault). I know i'm being hard on Jardine because i do think he's a good fighter but it comes down to where the fighting and entertainment parts of the business meet.

as a fight fan watching that division give me machida, chuck, wand, shogun, rampage, forrest any day of the week... hell i'll take tito too. much more fun to watch.

Ok everyone loves to say this about HWs, but now I guess its true for LHWs too. Everyone gets caught yes, but what I mean by Jardine had his chin exposed is that he made it pretty obvious that if you trade with him, you'll probably be able to land a great shot on his chin cuz he has it EXPOSED in every exchange. And if you do land that good shot, there's a great chance he's going to fall on his face. Did he show he could take a good punch from Rampage? Sure. Did he show that he's learned how to not take hard shots - Not at all.
And Wandy and Shogun did actually expose Rampage's lack of defensive abilities, especially when it comes to knees. It's not like Houston and Wanderlei are huge LHWs like Jackson, these guys could probably both get down to 185. But they still cleaned his clock.

Agree that Marquadt/Maia should have been the co-main event, my only thought on this is that maybe the UFC thinks that this fight will sell itself and by making the Jardine fight the co-main event, it will make the Jardine fight seem more important than it is, so making the card seem like it has 3 great fights instead of 2 (although I think most of the fights look lilke pretty interesting matches, going to be a good card).

With regards to the Chuck/Jardine fight, it was on again last night on Spike, and after watching it again I still see it the way I originally did, first round close, maybe goes to Chuck but 2nd and 3rd rounds definitely to Jardine. Although it was close, still think Jardine did enough to win it, especially those leg kicks. Even Rogan and Couture saw Jardine winning (although maybe their comments prejudiced my opinions, hard to say).
