| UFC and M-1 Global Reopen Talks Regarding Fedor Emelianenko and Gegard Mousasi UFC and M-1 Global Reopen Talks Regarding Fedor Emelianenko and Gegard Mousasi | News .:. NOKAUT Quote:

Despite having both fighters currently signed with Strikeforce and one of them holding championship gold in that promotion, talks between the UFC and M-1 Global regarding Fedor Emelianenko and Gegard Mousasi have apparently reopened over the weekend, with both sides confirming that they are in discussions without elaborating on where the discussions may lead.
M-1 Global's President Vadim Finchelstein confirmed via a Twitter posting that the two sides are meeting again, adding that he hoped that the fans will be happy with the outcome of the talks this time, alluding to the previous negotiations between M-1 and the UFC that fell apart, leading Emelianenko and Mousasi to sign with the promotion's biggest rival in North America, Strikeforce.
UFC President Dana White also confirmed that talks have happened "more recently than you would think", while adding that his primary goal is to get both Emelianenko and Mosuasi under contract with the UFC to have both men fighting against the best in the world.
Fight fans have clamored to see Emelianenko fight in the Octagon and while this would seem to be good news for them, it has to raise red flags of concern with Strikeforce, who are relying on Emelianenko and Mousasi to help boost their CBS primetime programs. Both fighters are expected to return to CBS in April, but one has to think that if they sign with the UFC after their Strikeforce deals end, perhaps the Strikeforce deals were merely a way for both men to get exposure in the US market before making the leap.

And so it begins...again....
UFC should co promote for 3-4 fights and then dump M1. That would satisfy the fans and people still wouldn't know who M1 is. I think its fair to say M1 will never be big in America so the risk is minimal. Maybe the UFC finally realized this.

these articles piss me off.
for years its seemed like fedor was one step away from the UFC, but it never happens. even if these talks did take place, doesnt fedor have 2 more fights with strikeforce? on his schedule he might be a free agent in a year or so.

Unless they come out and say Fedor is signed, disregard everything "said". Most of us have long since come to the realization that Fedor is not going to be in the UFC; and most of us have finally accepted that and do not dwell on it.
