A lightweight clash between former number one contender, Kenny Florian and Japanese superstar, Takanori Gomi is reportedly in the works to go down at UFC Fight Night 21 on March 31st in North Carolina.
The fight was originally confirmed by ESPN’s MMA Live on earlier today, before numerous news sources corroborated it.
Florian rebounded well following his summer loss to B.J. Penn by stopping Clay Guida in the second round via submission. “Ken Flo” also holds notable wins over the likes of Roger Huerta and Joe Stevenson.
Gomi, who was the PRIDE champion when Zuffa purchased the promotion will return to the octagon after a number of years away. He is currently 2-2 in his last four fights, and holds wins over Duane Ludwig and Marcus Aurelio
i think this is a smart move by the ufc a big time fighter in florian giving another big time fighrer who needs national exposure in the US via a free fight on the fight night 21 card
