| Rankings Idea
This is an idea for rankings. It's only an idea. If it's stupid, please call me on it.
I'm a charts & statistics type of person. I love me some stats and I love making spread sheets. So this is my idea:
In order to rank people, assign them a score based on how quickly they win. How they win, by KO, TKO, or Submission, doesn't matter; it's just how quickly. Base it by every 5 seconds.....so 0:01 - 0:05 of the first would be worth the highest, while 4:56 - 5:00 of the 5th would be worth almost the least. I say almost, because there should be an extra deduction for Unanimous Decisions, Majority Decisions, Split Decisions, and Draws; with Draws being worth 0.
For instance, give Draws 0, Split Decisions 10, Majority 20, Unanimous 30, then start Round 5 4:56 - 5:00 at 60; very much penalizing the fighters for taking it to a decision. Then for every higher 5 seconds, make it a point better.....meaning Round 5 4:51 - 4:55 would be worth 61, Round 5 4:46 - 4:50 would be worth 62, and so on and so forth all the way up to whatever that would end up being for a first round win between 0:01 - 0:05.
Anyway, it's just an idea. It's probably stupid, which is why I put it in Noob Jack. I know we are doing the awards right now, so if I make "dumbest post" award for this one, I'll probably deserve it.

I liken this idea to people who say the NHL should have a salary structure that if you get 100+ points you earn, say 10 mill, 90-99 points, 9mill..etc...
It looks good on paper, but it doesn't take into consideration the intangables...Someone like Claude Lemieux, won 4 cups, and a Conn smythe..but wasn't a polific scorer..yet all he did was win.............
Under this pay scale JDS, even though he dominated Rogers for 3 rounds would, inaffect, be penalized in the rankings.

yeah, Darkmage, I have no problems with you bud. But to me time of finish/kind just doesn't correctly do it for me. Carwin would be by far the best heavyweight in the world by this system, and he sure as hell ain't

I do understand that, it does matter how you win and when you win, but the most important thing is who you have fought.

I'm with the other guys. You can't turn intangibles into tangibles, no matter how hard you try.
