I fought a bigger taller fighter in my first fight. He had a good reach advantage and unfortunately for me he had pretty good takedown defense. It was a long night for I'll say that.

Work your game. If thats boxing then use your explosiveness to close the distance and nullify his reach. Dont stay outside and get picked apart. If you clinch you sound like you know what to do. Try to get a solid side control a beat him up there.

Before your fight, train off your back. Do some sub escapes. Basically train out of your worst case scenario. You need a plan in case things dont go your way. Do that and you'll feel more confident that you can handle whatever happens.

Good luck man, let us know how it goes!

I am more like your opponett more versed in grappling, so my advice is go over it with your trainers a game plan learn it backwards and forwards so it's instink How much info do you have on him. Does he fight the same way every time and has he fought a fighter of your syle before? Breathing is a defenit especially since you noted your cardio is below par don't blow or wait for a dec. Give it your all and be proud for doing so, and good luck. I know T BEAR has faught recently oversea's his advice would be creditable.

All the info I have on him is in the first post of this topic. It's his first fight too.

hands up chin down. I disagree with GL Jeff if he's a grappler don't kick just sprawl and brawl. You don't want to end up on your back cause you threw a sloppy kick. He's going to be excited and come in hard I know I did. Be prepared for that and how you're going to react to his pressure whether that be scrambling to you're feet and sprawling. Breathe and stay focused and you'll do quite well.

He got a lot of take downs using the cage and I got standing RNC'd in the 2nd. I didn't tap out though, the ref stopped it and I was standing still....Probably a good call cuz I wasnt gonna tap and I was goin out. I had a lot of fun though and will do it again. Pretty much jumped into an MMA fight in front of a shit load of ppl without any training haha but I did good until I got gassed. I caught him with some shots that made him completely buckle and 180 the other way. At one point I was postured up landing some bombs but was grabbing the cage without even realizing it and the ref stopped it. That's pretty much when I gassed out.

Well congratulations for competing and for making a good performance, dont worry for the loss. If you plan on continue fighting, then its sure that sometimes you will win, and sometimes you will lose, its a normal thing.

What it is really important is that you make improvements for each fight and that you enjoy it.
